Yes slackers - make your picks, when I win the comp I don't want your excuse to be "I didn't make a pick that week and that week...":smiley36:

Shifty you ponce! 35points on the Saders to thump the force????
i hope karma comes & bites you on the arse!

Shifty

Barto and my results are often similar but he keeps getting more points than me because he predicts higher margins for a lot of the games. :310:

I was just trying to get one up on him by going higher still and got a little too enthusiastic. :smiley9: Unfortunately I can't change it which is a shame because the Force are a much improved team this year.

Nevertheless, leaving my ridiculously high margin aside, I honestly think that the Crusaders are going to win this one.

Edmonsta
03-07-2008, 03:19 AM
Yep, I'm usually pretty conservative with my margins. Probably my downfall.

I did laugh at your Crusaders by 35 and thought that you knew something I didn't.

Unfortunately, I don't even think jetlag will tame the Crusaders. Dammit.

No faith in the Sharks boys? Shame on you.

lol.

I've had a word with Richie and he's promised that they are going to put in some extra effort and give the Force a real thrashing. I feel a lot more confident about my prediction now.

I've been really torn about the Sharks/Blues game. For half the week I was convinced that the Sharks wer going to take it, then I watched the replay of the Blues game and then I went the other way. My gut instinct tells me that whoever wins it, is going to win it convincingly. Jeez, I just don't know. :help:Whatever the outcome, the anticipation is killing me.

My heart says the Sharks, my head says the Blues.

You feeling confident?

that game in particular is a tough one to call

i will say this though
the 2 top NZ teams have been looking really stylish but im going to put that down to good prep, fitness and game plans.
The south africans in general have not adapted well to the ELV's and the higher fitness required.

i think the Kiwis will have a much harder time in Aus than they did in SA.
im not sure the force have enough to win against the Saders but it will be a closer game than you think thats for sure! both teams are virtually full strength

players to watch out for -
Matt Giteau will be a real handful for Carter.
McCaw as always will be at the coalface hopefully he will have a tough time up against Bambam Pocock the wonderkid from Zim.
Staniforth has been Shifted to Right wing where he scored 5 tries in 2006 and was the leading scorer for the force in their inaugural year
Caleb Ralph will have to be at his best at inside centre to keep the defensive line working and look for gaps in the force to manipulate.
Cam Sheperd will hopefully have a better game this week and show why he is considered Lathams successor at fullback for the wallabies.
Moses Tuiali'i will be hoping to dominate around the sides of the ruck as he did last year as he was instrumental in the 53-0 win over the force last year! - i suspect the force will be ready this time round as last year Henjak & pocock were injured for that match and they were sorely missed for their defensive capability.

so anyway thats my lowdown on the faces to watch... hope everyone has a good rugby weekend!!
i have a bucks day (Sean "TBONE" hodnett is getting hitched finally) on the golf course on sunday so will probably miss the game but will be checking the score regularly!

I must admit, I'm nervous about this one, but as nervous as I am, I'm always positive...

Based on current S14 performances, the Sharks would lose this one, but I'm confident that there's more in the tank and that they'll be able to raise their game a level or two. (they'll need to!!!)

I think the conditions will be as humid as they were for the Force and the Stormers games, something the Sharks are used to. If this causes the Blues to tire, we'll be in with a good chance.

I have to admit that if the Sharks win, I don't think it will be a flyer, it will be a few points.

03-07-2008, 07:39 AM
shifty you bastard!!! you actually convinced the sharks were gonna take convincingly, and then you turn like this....my reasons for why the sharks WILL win:
All springbok tight 5
Michalack to have his one blinder a year
Frans Seyn will remember how to get the ball over the post
They are playing at the tank....GAME OVER

Edmonsta

How arrogant are the Blues? Good grief, they're pretty confident of themselves - they're already saying that they've got the ball game.

Probably one of the reasons why I'm not a fan.

Now we have even more reason to beat them.

Springbok

The Sharks all the way , All Black players play their best in the first three years and in world cup rugby year , they all fall down :whistling: :smiley19: :smiley36: :smiley36:

Oh the taste of sweet, sweet karma. Sharks 22 Blues 17. Told them they shouldn't have backed themselves a-la All Blacks. :smiley36:

Sharks took the foot off the gas, which is always a worry and always annoying, but hey, we'll take the win.

Keegan Daniel is going to be one hell of a player!

Shifty

So the Blues can be beaten.

Should have stuck with my original prediction and not watched the Blues replay last week. Still, one prediction I don't mind being wrong about. :smiley20: Exciting game.

The Blues found their momentum a little too late. Another defeat would be good but realistically I don't suppose that will be the case. Coming off a loss, I don't envy the team who has to face up to the Blues next week. :smiley18:

Yeah a good weekend mostly...

Reds got thumped by an impressive Stormers
Force nearly stole a win from the Crusaders
Sharks beat the Blues.. WOW!

What a great round.. a real step up this week by everyone except the Hurricanes who were lucky to come away from their game with a win.

Shifty youd better switch allegances mate cause its starting to look a bit like the Canes will be bottom dwellers unless they have a real form turn around!.

Now don't be cheeky biffon :naughty: The Hurricanes are my home team, so why would I want to be switching? I think you've got me confused with one of those 'fair weather' supporters who can't be found when things are going badly.

Anyway three wins out of four isn't bad going, particularly as their only loss was the first game of the season. I will admit that last weeks game against the Highlanders wasn't the Hurricanes finest performance. I think it was just a bad day at the office, well as far as I'm concerned anyway.

I also think that the Highlanders aren't as easy to defeat as everyone initially thought. The narrow margin of all their losses reflects that. Add the fact that they've have had a couple of bad decisions go against them and they don't seem quite so bad, despite what the scoreboard would suggest. They must be pretty close to "bogey team" status.

The Force also play them in a couple of weeks. If the Force do beat them and they probably will, I really don't think it will be by much of a margin.

As regards the "bottom dwellers" comment, well we'll let the score board do the talking, shall we?

Go Canes. :peace:

Made some brave choices today. No middle ground this week. I'll either win big or sink like a stone.

I've followed my gut and gone with the Chiefs this weekend. :pcguru:

Also picked the Highlanders to beat the Bulls. :pcguru:

Anyother foolhardy punters this week?

I note with interest that Barto is coming 3rd in the global picks.

Shifty
04-16-2008, 01:42 AM
Jeez, he is doing well. Lucky for Barto that the Sharks are playing so well or his ranking would be lower down the table. I don't think he'd pick against them and I reckon to get to number One you'd probably have to sometimes pick against your team, as well as have a little luck go your way. Still, that's a superb performance so far.
I wouldn't want to know what my position is right now. :smiley19: I think that part of the trick is to leave your picks until the end of the week before making a decision.

As of this week, according to rugby365 several teams could still make the final if the results go their way.

Besides the fact that I'm going to the Sharks/Brumbies game in Canberra this weekend - I think the game of the weekend is going to the the Hurricanes/Stormers game. It's going to be a cracker.

I'm a bit worried about the Sharks, truth be told. :smiley5:

I've also gone for the Highlanders over the Bulls, even at Loftus. They're a bit of a bogey team for the Bulls.

firstly i'm not #1...i'm #2...in the world!!

i read that article(during my exceedungly busy day yesterday). It was pretty interesting, and no suprises that saders are all but through. An intresting point is the closeness and competition for the semis...with ony the bulls, reds cheetahs, lions and highladers realistically(but not mathmatically) out of the comp...and the fact the sharks arent cut and dry in 2nd place means its gonna be a very tight run in
