England supporters have been awefully quiet of late...WHOOHOOO! Funny how they make SO much noise when their teams are winning/ performing & then are SO quiet or as we've seen with the rugby NEGATIVE & ABUSIVE when they lose... SAffers been a bit quiet too after not quite making it to the consecutive 1 day record there was so much noise about...
Isnt Pietersen a pillock!? Just when his fielding seems to be coming right, his battigs gone to shit! I must say, i am LOVING Glenn McGrath's bowling at the moment...seems to have found a rich vein of form..

The funniest thing recently is England losing to Pakistan. I was listening to their commentators betting England would thrash the Pakkies by an innings as they were the "Ashes" Champs.
The best thing about watching sport is seeing a crying Pom.

Ja, it is a MOST pleasurable experience to watch the poms lose..followed only by hearing them whinge about the ref/umpire, the conditions, the crowd, EVERYTHING/EVERYONE else other than the simple fact that they are CRAPOLA DOT COM!

Some interesting results over the w/end...nice to see SA back on the winning trail, much as i hate Graeme Smith...Pomms made a nice come back (how is old Inzamam Ul Haq's batting form!?...used to be a fatty who could hit the ball a bit but now seems to have developed strength & staying power! Good on yer Pakis!)
Oz's strength in depth when you look at who's injured & off colour is pretty scary...Zim cricket is pretty much history & the tragedy is that we have a squad of 15 or so guys who given the right coaching & conditions can compete with ANYONEin the one day game...SAD!

Catch any of the Windies / Aus game? Brian Lara taking the record as the biggest test run scorer ever in his 236 innings? Pure gold.
I gave up on Zim cricket a few years ago and i suggest the ICC do the same thing.

Rod Marsh & Ian Botham: When Botham took guard in an Ashes match, Marsh welcomed him to the wicket with the immortal words: "So how's your wife & my kids?"
Daryll Cullinan & Shane Warne: As Cullinan was on his way to the wicket, Warne told him he had been waiting 2 years for another chance to humiliate him. "Looks like you spent it eating," Cullinan retorted.
Glenn McGrath (bowling to portly Zimbabwean chicken farmer Eddo Brandes): "Hey Eddo, why are you so F**ing Fat?" Eddo Brandes: "Because everytime I F*** your mother, she throws me a biscuit"
Robin Smith & Merv Hughes: During 1989 Lords Test Hughes said to Smith after he played & missed:" You can't f**king bat".
Smith to Hughes after he smacked him to the boundary: "Hey Merv, we make a fine pair. I can't f**king bat & you can't f**king bowl."
Merv Hughes & Javed Miandad: During 1991 Adelaide Test, Javed called Merv a fat bus conductor. A few balls later Merv dismissed Javed: "Tickets please", Merv called out as he ran past the departing batsman.
Merv Hughes & Viv Richards: During a test match in the West Indies, Hughes didn't say a word to Viv, but continued to stare at him after deliveries. "This is my island, my culture. Don't you be staring at me. In my culture we just bowl." Merv didn't reply, but after he dismissed him he announced to the batsman: "In my culture we just say f**k *ff."
And of course you can't forget Ian Healy's legendary comment which was picked up by the Channel 9 microphones when Arjuna Ranatunga called for a runner on a particularly hot night during a one dayer in ... "You don't get a runner for being an overweight, unfit, fat c**t!!!"
James Ormond had just come out to bat on an ashes tour and was greeted by Mark Waugh....... MW : "F*ck me, look who it is. Mate, what are you doing out here, there's no way you're good enough to play for England" JO :"Maybe not, but at least I'm the best player in my family"
McGrath to Ramnaresh Sarwan: "So what does Brian Lara's d*ck taste like?" Sarwan: "I don't know. Ask your wife." McGrath (losing it): "If you ever effing mention my wife again, I'll F*ing rip your F*fing throat out."
Mark Waugh standing at second slip, the new player Adam Parore comes to the crease playing & missing the first ball. Mark - "Ohh, I remember you from a couple years ago in Australia. You were sh*t then, you're fu*king useless now". Parore- "Yeah, that's me & when I was there you were going out with that old, ugly sl*t & now I hear you've married her. You dumb c*nt".
Yet another Australian witticism with this time porky Sri Lankan batsman Arjuna Ranatunga the victim. Shane Warne, trying to tempt the batsman out of his crease mused what it took to get the plump character to get out of his crease and drive. Wicketkeeper Ian Healy piped up, "Put a Mars Bar on a good length. That should do it."
Ravi Shastri and the Aussie 12th Man (don't remember who, and don't want to slander anyone ) Shastri hits it to this guy and looks for a single...this guy gets the ball in and says, "If you leave the crease I'll break your f***ing head" Shastri: "if you could bat as well as you can talk you wouldn't be the f***ing 12th man"
Malcolm Marshall was bowling to David Boon who had played and missed a couple of times. "Now David, Are you going to get out now or am I going to have to bowl around the wicket and kill you?"
Fred Trueman bowling. The batsman edges and the ball goes to first slip, and right between Raman Subba Row's legs. Fred doesn't say a word. At the end of the over, Row ambles past Trueman and apologises Sheepishly. "I should've kept my legs together, Fred".
"So should your mother" Trueman replied.

The Zimbabwe cricket crisis continues
Chingoka and Bvute arrested

Peter Chingoka (top) and Ozias Bvute: arrested by police
Peter Chingoka, the chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket, and Ozias Bvute, the managing director, were arrested late on Monday after surrendering themselves at Harare Central police station. The pair are understood to have arrived accompanied by their lawyer, Wilton Manashe.
The news was confirmed by Chief Superintendent Oliver Mandipaka who said: "They have been charged with contravening sections of the Exchange Control Act, and they will appear in court soon." He added that more arrests could follow in the coming days.
A source close to Zimbabwe Cricket said that the charges relate to the ongoing investigation being carried out by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. It is thought that the pair were charged with several offences, including funds misappropriation and violating Zimbabwe s foreign currency exchange regulations.
The ZC board is now expected to meet as a matter of urgency and it is widely rumoured that Chingoka and Bvute will be removed from office. An insider said that the first move would then be to gain entrance to their heavily-locked offices, and hand over all the books and accounts to a forensic auditor.
It is known that ZC is in deep financial trouble. Harare Sports Club has not been paid rent for office space by ZC for two months, and many players have not had their match fees from the New Zealand and India series almost three months ago. The full scale of the financial predicament is not yet known.
The forensic audit will include investigation into alleged importation of many top of the range vehicles for resale in Harare and unexplained cash withdrawals.
If Chingoka and Bvute are ousted then it will pave the way for the striking players to return. Tatenda Taibu, who quit as Zimbabwe's captain last week, is likely to resume and other players who retired because of the Chingoka-led ZC's conduct might also be persuaded to reconsider.
Lovemore Banda, the ZC media manager, repeatedly denied he knew anything about the arrests but failed to respond when asked several times to clarify the situation.
In a letter to the ICC last week, the seven provincial chairmen asked for a freeze on all foreign income pending investigation of transactions through an account in London, income and expenditure accounts for TV companies and "other allegations of several instances of impropriety in ZC".

Ricky Ponting became just the sixth player and first Australian to score a century in his 100th test appearance when he made a hundred against South Africa on Wednesday.
The Australian captain reached the milestone after lunch on the third day of the third and final test at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 215 minutes off 143 balls.
Ponting joined Colin Cowdrey, Javed Miandad, Gordon Greenidge, Alec Stewart and Inzamam-ul-Haq as the only players to achieve the feat.
The Australian skipper made 96 on his debut against Sri Lanka a decade ago but has chalked up 27 centuries since, putting him equal sixth with Allan Border on the all-time list.
The 31-year-old Tasmanian struck 10 boundaries and a six to reach his hundred on Wednesday but had to survive a loud lbw appeal on 95 off Charl Langeveldt.
The Australians had been in a spot of trouble at the beginning of the day but Ponting quickly steadied the ship tearing into the South African bowling line up to reach 69 not out at lunch, steering his team to 124 for three after they had resumed on 54-3.
Mike Hussey survived a confident appeal for lbw to reach the interval unbeaten on 13 with Australia still 327 runs short of South Africa's imposing first innings total of 451-9 and needing a further 128 to avoid the follow-on.
Hussey was struck plumb in front by Andre Nel when he was on nine but Pakistan umpire Saleem Dar gave the Australian left-hander the benefit of the doubt although replays suggested the ball would have struck middle stump.
The morning session was shortened by almost an hour because of light rain that delayed the start but Ponting made up for lost time with a cavalier display.
Ponting, officially ranked the number one batsmen in the world, started the day on 13 with his team in a sticky situation, but signalled his intention to attack from the outset with an early boundary.
When he drove Shaun Pollock through mid-on to move from 39 to 42, Ponting overtook Mark Waugh's career aggregate of 8,029 runs to become Australia's third-highest run-scorer in tests, behind only Allan Border and Steve Waugh.
Ponting brought up his 33rd test fifty in the next over off Charl Langeveldt, reaching the milestone in 95 minutes off 68 balls.
He pulled the first delivery over the square-leg boundary rope for six then drove the South African seamer straight down the ground for three.
Ponting added another three boundaries before lunch but had a scare on 59 when he edged Nel through gully and just past the outstretched hand of Herschelle Gibbs.
Australia only need to draw the match to clinch the series after the first test in Perth was drawn and they won the second game in Melbourne by 184 runs.

Black Caps captain Stephen Fleming has managed a century in his domestic cricket comeback.
Fleming has hit 104 in Wellington's four wicket win over Auckland at the Basin Reserve, helping chase down Auckland's 252 for eight with three overs to spare.
This follows a stint on the sidelines, forced out by a tumour removal and then the birth of his daughter a week ago.
Stephen Fleming says it is the ideal preparation before heading back to the international scene.
Although he admits he was a nervous man making his return to the crease in the domestic one day competition.
Fleming will rejoin the Black Caps on Thursday for the fourth one dayer against Sri Lanka in Wellington.
http://xtramsn.co.nz/homepage2/imageView/0,,5221885,00.jpeg
South Africa led Australia by 157 runs with eight second-innings wickets in hand at lunch on the fourth day of the third and final test on Thursday.
Herschelle Gibbs was unbeaten on 53 with Jacques Kallis on four with South Africa 65 for two after leading by 92 on the first innings.
The start of play was delayed by an hour because of morning showers and the players also went to lunch 10 minutes early because of another downfall.
With the forecast of more foul weather and the South Africans needing to win the game to square the series, the visitors immediately signalled their intentions to make up for lost time.
They resumed on 4-1 but lost captain Graeme Smith for five with the total on six when he was trapped lbw by Glenn McGrath.
Smith turned down the chance to go off for bad light and was unlucky to be given out as the ball struck him high above the knee roll.
Unperturbed by Smith's dismissal and a damp outfield, Gibbs launched into the Australian bowlers with renewed vigour while Kallis, who made a century in the first innings despite an elbow injury, played the anchor role.
Gibbs had a let-off on 34 when he was dropped by Shane Warne at slip but raced to his second half-century of the series off 58 balls in 73 minutes when he dispatched McGrath to the rope for his ninth boundary just as the heavens opened up again.</DIV>

Zimbabwe suspends test status until 2007
HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwe's embattled cricket administrators voted on Wednesday to suspend their struggling national team from test cricket at the first meeting of a government-appointed interim committee.
"The interim board decided to suspend Zimbabwe's participation in test matches until early next year," said a statement from Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC).
"The decision... was reached by ZC after consideration of the recent performances by the national and A teams," it added.
Seven of the last 10 tests contested by Zimbabwe have been lost by an innings and 26 of the last 28 one-day internationals have also ended in defeat, many by huge margins.
The African nation has, however, decided to continue playing international one-day cricket for the next year.
The interim board was formed after a government takeover of cricket on January 6 following allegations of mismanagement by administrators.
YOUNG TEAMS
The statement added: "The young teams remain full of potential and hopes abound for their development into a strong and competitive performer on the test arena.
"ZC is now putting in place a programme to galvanise the development of the Zimbabwe squads. It will work with other test nations and the ICC (International Cricket Council) itself to realise this objective."
"While the side goes through the programme to prepare it adequately for the rigours of test cricket, ZC has no doubt the team will be competitive in its ODI commitments under the Future Tours Programme," said ZC interim board chairman Peter Chingoka.
Zimbabwe Cricket will now approach the West Indies Cricket Board with a view to playing only one-dayers and not test matches on their scheduled tour to the Caribbean in April.
The statement said it would do the same with other international boards "for the other fixtures under the Future Tours Programme (FTP).
"The Zimbabwe cricket team will then only resume its full programme during the tour to Sri Lanka in February 2007, subject to the finalisation of the FTP for which the chief executives are meeting in Dubai next month," the statement added

Harare, Zimbabwe - Zimbabwe beat Kenya by eight wickets on Saturday in the first of five one-day internationals.
Zimbabwe, which had been hit by player strikes, lack of practice and inexperience, won with 6.3 overs to spare at Queens Sports Club.
Kenya won the toss and made 227 for nine against rapid bowling. Kennedy Otieno top-scored with 74, while Thomas Odoyo hit 54.
However, new Zimbabwe captain Terrence Duffin and newcomer Peter Rinke put on 72 for the first wicket, with Duffin going on to make 53.
Brendan Taylor and Hamilton Mazakadza scored 60 and 58 respectively as the home team raced to 231 for two.

South Africa beat an injury-ravaged Australia by six wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis rule to claim the spoils in the first one-dayer.
Graeme Smith continued his resurgence in form with an unbeaten 119 to guide the hosts home with 21 balls remaining.
Australia hit 229-8 from 47 overs, and after several rain stoppages South Africa's final target was 204 from 41.
Shaun Pollock also had a terrific match for the Proteas, taking 3-23 from his 10 overs despite a slight knee injury. When captain Ricky Ponting was ruled out with an abdominal strain on the eve of the match, the Aussies were forced to field the only 11 remaining fit players in their squad.

Kenya crushed Zimbabwe by 79 runs in Bulawayo to level their five-match one-day international series 1-1.
Captain Steve Tikolo's brisk 98 off only 75 balls was the key to the tourists' 284-7 off their 50 overs. Zimbabwe were always struggling in reply after Thomas Odoyo removed Terry Duffin and Hamilton Masakadza early on. Piet Rinke's 54 off 45 balls and Keegan Meth's 53 briefly rallied them but tight bowling, particularly from Peter Ongondo (3-26), dashed their hopes.

South Africa crushed Australia by a record margin of 196 runs on Friday to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series of one-day internationals.
Paceman Makhaya Ntini picked up six wickets as Australia were bowled out for 93 in the day-night match, giving South Africa their biggest win over the world champions.
Australia's total was their worst against South Africa, the previous lowest being 125 in Melbourne in 1997/98.
Ntini's spell included an accurate new-ball burst which left the visitors reeling at seven for four in the 10th over.
"I'll never forget today, I took my 200th test wicket here and now I've taken my 200th one-day wicket at Newlands," Ntini told reporters.
The 28-year-old became only the third South African to register 200 wickets in one-dayers, joining Allan Donald and Shaun Pollock.
Ntini's match figures of six for 22 were also the best by a South African in a one-dayer, surpassing Donald's return of six for 23 against Kenya in Nairobi in 1996.
Chasing 290 to win, Australia were in disarray from the second over.
With Pollock, who bowled seven overs for nine runs, concentrating on line and length, Ntini was able to roar in and he had Australia on the back foot from his first ball, removing Adam Gilchrist for a single.
Gilchrist did not bother waiting for the umpire's decision after a fine inside edge to wicketkeeper Mark Boucher.
Phil Jaques, called up after the injuries sustained by captain Ricky Ponting and Andrew Symonds, lasted four balls before Ntini had him caught at second slip.
Ntini Bouncer
Damien Martyn (four) hooked a well-directed Ntini bouncer to fine leg and Michael Clarke (one) gifted another catch to Boucher.
Mike Hussey (22) and Shane Watson (27) were the only batsmen to make it past 20.
Stand-in skipper Gilchrist said: "Hats off to the way Makhaya and Shaun bowled at the start. It was a great display of bowling and a bit of poor shot selection by us at times.
"South Africa outplayed us today."
The hosts had made 289 for seven thanks to a quickfire unbeaten 51 from Justin Kemp and 66 from Herschelle Gibbs.
Kemp smashed four sixes as he reached his half century in 41 balls.
He and Pollock (38) added 62 off 50 deliveries for the sixth wicket after South Africa had reached 192 for five in the 39th over.
Boucher scored 42 with three sixes but fell to wrist-spinner Brad Hogg, who also caught and bowled Gibbs.
Stuart Clark, back in the Australian lineup after a rib injury, claimed the first wicket when he scattered Graeme Smith's stumps after the South African captain had scored 24.
Fellow opener Boeta Dippenaar made 31, an innings peppered with six boundaries, before dragging a Watson delivery on to his stumps.
"We know (the third match) on Sunday is important for the series and we want to go to Port Elizabeth and perform well," said Smith.
"We love winning and we love success and we are certainly going to enjoy tonight."

Australia battle to thrilling win
One-day international, Durban
Australia 247-9 beat South Africa 246-9 by one wicket
Scorecard
Mick Lewis (left) shows his delight as Australia edge home
Australia beat South Africa by one wicket in a day-night game in Durban to take the five-game series to a decider.
Boeta Dippenaar hit 101 off 145 balls and Shaun Pollock added an unbeaten 53 as South Africa scored 246-9.
Adam Gilchrist and Simon Katich gave Australia a solid start with a stand of 87 before four wickets fell in 14 runs.
Andrew Symonds' 76 revived the visitors but it needed the last-wicket duo of Stuart Clark and Mick Lewis to edge them home with just five balls left.
Electing to bat first, the Proteas slumped to 9-2 as Nathan Bracken swung the new ball to dismiss Graeme Smith and Herschelle Gibbs.
Dippenaar then came to the fore and added 73 in an exciting third-wicket partnership with AB De Villiers.
Dippenaar has now hit four centuries in one-day internationals
De Villiers hit two sixes off Brett Lee before Lewis dismissed him lbw as he tried to pull a third.
Jacques Kallis, making his return from injury, showed some fine touches before hitting a Symonds full toss to deep midwicket for 21.
Neither Mark Boucher nor Justin Kemp got going, however, and it needed some uncomplicated hitting from Pollock to get South Africa to a decent score.
Pollock and Dippenaar added 72 from 54 balls with Pollock hitting an impressive 53 not out from just 33 deliveries.
Dippenaar, who later received the named man-of-the-match award, finally fell to Lee in the final over as Australia hit back in the final two overs, taking three wickets and conceding just seven runs.
I thought they were the team that were chokers
Graeme Smith
Match reaction
Australia got off to a promising start thanks to Gilchrist (45) and Katich (46) but their double departure unsettled the team.
Ricky Ponting and Damien Martyn then succumbed during a stirring spell from paceman Roger Telemachus before Symonds swung the game back in Australia's favour with 76 off 71 balls.
He eventually fell to Telemachus too, clean bowled as he looked to hit another sweeping drive.
By then, Australia had also lost Michael Clarke and Mike Hussey, and soon after Symonds' wicket fell, Lee was also out, edging the ball behind to Mark Boucher for seven.
Nathan Bracken was clean bowled by Andrew Hall with two overs left but Clark (16 not out) and Lewis carried them home in the final over.

Live: India v England
SECOND TEST, MOHALI - MATCH SUMMARY, DAY THREE:
England 300 v India 56-1
India spinner Anil Kumble passed 500 Test wickets as England were dismissed for 300, with India 52-1 at tea in reply on day three of the second Test.
After Andrew Flintoff and Geraint Jones both hit fifties in their fourth Test century stand, Kumble captured the final three wickets in four balls. (What a bunch of idiots)
Steve Harmison gave England early hope when a brutal ball gloved Virender Sehwag for 11 in the the third over.
But the obdurate Wasim Jaffer and Rahul Dravid shared a watchful unbroken 34.

Local and national cricketing bodies have reacted with outrage to a comment made by Australian TV commentator Dean Jones, in which he referred to Durban-born South African cricketer Hashim Amla, a devout Muslim, as a "terrorist".
Former Test player Jones was immediately sacked from his job. Jones, who admitted making the comment and apologised, was on a TV commentary team covering the second Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa in Colombo.
"I'm gone. I'm on the 1am flight," he told reporters in Colombo, where he issued a statement apologising for his comment.
</SPAN>It appears Jones did not know the microphone was onAmla wears a beard for religious reasons and has successfully negotiated with the South African team's main sponsors, SA Breweries, not to have to wear the Castle Lager logo on his playing and practice gear.
Jones, who played 52 Test matches for Australia and was a respected commentator, was clearly heard saying during a live TV broadcast, "The terrorist has got another wicket," when Amla caught Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakara off the bowling of Shaun Pollock. http://red.as-eu.falkag.net/dat/bgf/trpix.gif?&rdm=73667719&dlv=631,17565,249144,295094,1041655&kid=295094&chw=6295094-&tcs=&bls3=000000C&bls4=000007195527&uid=1&dmn=.wbs.co.za&scx=1024&scy=768&scc=32&jav=1&sta=,,,1,,,,,,,0,0,0,27980,27976,27943,2933,0&iid=249144&bid=1041655
It appears Jones did not know the microphone was on.
Cricket South Africa Chief Executive Gerald Majola said the governing body would be launching an official complaint into the incident, which he described as "outrageous".
"We take the strongest exception to this comment and we will lodge an official complaint with the host broadcaster, (Dubai-based) Ten Sports, that employs him.
The International Cricket Council (under whose auspices the match is being played) has strongly condemned racism and we will be discussing the matter with them. This type of racial stereotyping has no place in cricket and must be stamped on swiftly."
Cassim Docrat, CEO of the KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union, said Jones should have known better. "I think it is disgraceful to hear it from a high-profile ex-cricketer and a top commentator. From a commentator's point of view, you have to have a certain respect. It was totally uncalled for," he said.
He confirmed that similar racist incidents had taken place against Amla's brother, Ahmed, and against other players of colour in the past.
He recalled an incident between Ahmed and pace bowler Dale Steyn in a Supersport Series match last season, when Steyn was alleged to have made derogatory comments about Ahmed's faith. Steyn admitted to swearing at him, but denied referring to his Muslim faith. The case was dismissed by CSA.
Docrat also referred to an incident involving former national all-rounder Brian McMillan, who had action taken against him for remarks he made about Ashraff Mall.
However, he said it was different when players were taunting each other on the field than when it was done by a commentator.
Supersport, which was taking a live match feed, was inundated with phone calls from irate viewers.
"We condemn the incident in the strongest possible terms and apologise to our viewers for offence caused. Unfortunately, we have no direct control over the broadcast... I have been in contact with Ten Sports CEO Chris McDonald, who also apologises on behalf of the network. He assured me that he will be taking the strongest action in sanctioning the person responsible," said Supersport CEO Imtiaz Patel.
Before flying out of Sri Lanka, Jones apologised for his comment, labelling it "stupid".
"It was a silly and completely insensitive thing to say and, obviously, it was never supposed to be heard over the air," Jones said.
"I am truly sorry to have caused offence to anybody and the last thing I intended was to be disrespectful.
"Everyone needs to get away from perpetuating the myth, publicly and privately, that beards associated with the Muslim faith are somehow suspicious, and I intend to do exactly that.
"The irony is that I am great friends with most of the Pakistan team and they are all Muslims.
"I have no end of respect for the Muslim faith - that's why I'm so sorry at making such a stupid comment. It does not represent who I am, how I think or what I believe.
"I will be the first person to apologise to Hashim as soon as I get the chance, and I will assure him that prejudice against anybody, on any basis, is unacceptable and not something I will ever condone." - Sapa-Reuters

Colombo - Two thousand athletes from South Asian nations have arrived in Sri Lanka for the 10th edition of the biannual South Asian Games, making light of security concerns that saw South Africa's cricketers abandon a tri-series cricket tournament this week.
The South Asian Games, which run through Aug 28, will be formally inaugurated by Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse on Friday. The opening ceremony of the biggest-ever sports event staged by the island nation will highlight Sri Lanka's cultural ethos.
"We're looking to host the best ever South Asian Games," said Hemasiri Fernando, president of the Sri Lankan Olympic Committee and a top official of the games organizing body.
Several venues staging the 20 sports during these games were built in 1991, when Colombo last hosted the South Asian Games. They have now been refurbished, upgrading the Sri Lankan capital's sports infrastructure.
The multiple-sport regional competition featuring athletes from eight nations - India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives, beside host Sri Lanka - has been in the spotlight after South Africa's jittery cricket team withdrew from a limited-overs tri-series citing security fears in the wake of a bomb blast on Monday near the team hotel that killed seven persons.
Rejected the upgraded security
Even as Sri Lanka cricket officials were grappling with the embarrassment of South Africa pulling out of the tournament on Wednesday, rejecting the upgraded security that is usually provided to visiting heads of state, South Asian athletes donning colourful uniforms were checking into the same hotels where the South African and Indian cricket teams are staying.
South Africa's cricket team, which has announced its decision to return home, is to leave Colombo late on Thursday evening, while India's cricketers are staying put to play a three-match one-day series against the hosts.
Even as the deliberations about canceing the tour spread over three days, the South African players were seen shopping at a mall next to the team hotel, or going for a jog.
Unmindful of the controversy around South Africa's national squad, young cricketers from the St John's College in Johannesburg, South Africa, are continuing their tour of Sri Lanka, playing a match in the capital on Thursday before heading for the temple town of Kandy.
Cautious of another violent incident marrying the South Asian Games, security agencies have made elaborate arrangement around the venues, team hotels and key roads in the city for the South Asian Games, easing the concerns of the participants.

Sorry man, I don't have a chip on my shoulder at all, just the whol potato farm. I don't mean it, but I do feel that they think only about themselves and not others!
I must also say, that not all Australians are like that! I know some very sound Aussies who I'll bend over backwards to help, but for the most part, I can't stand them! Just like most yanks are ignorant (it's not their fault, it's the education system there implying that America is the centre of the universe and everyone else is second rate), I see Australia as being a junior America (or at least they want to be!)
As far as Cricket goes, I will never forgive them for pointing fingers at Hansie Cronje for match fixing (he deserved to be nailed ... don't get me wrong!) when they had the same (if not worse) issues with a couple of their players, and they covered it up, Warnie (a main culprit) a few others too.
I have no quarrels with their sledging tactics (although I find it childish but funny) I think that sometimes they get a little to high on their hobby-horse and can't wait to see "how far the mighty have fallen"
