Amazing, mine did too.

I met up with two Gweru schoolfriends of mine yesterday in Woking, just outside London. Walking to the cafe we bumped into a Zimbabwe guy wearing a Zimbo cap. We stopped for a chat. He said he was going back to 'build a new Zimbabwe' and was optimistic. We pointed out to him how lucky he was that he could go back, because us 'whities' were not welcome. He commiserated with us and told us that the new Zimbabwe would be for everyone to return. What a positive and somewhat blinkered man. If only.

Sadly, I wouldn't. My kids are all grown up and have Australian husband/boyfriend/girlfriend and my gorgeous grandson is Australian so I'm here for the long haul. Nothing would tear me from my family - not again. Leaving my parents and brothers was one of the hardest things I've ever done, I'm not going down that road again.

Having said that, my dream is to one day take Elijah and any other grandies for an extended holiday to Zim to show them where his 'African' family started out. Who knows, one day it may happen.
