You boys in the deep south AKA Oz & NZ...whats the likelihood of starting up a "Zimfest" for the okes & folks out there? I know there's a big contingent of yous out there so maybe someone can take the bull by the horns so to speak...also, for ALL the people out there in case you arent aware, there is a weekly newspaper for Zimbos www.thezimbabwean.co.uk (http://www.thezimbabwean.co.uk) so spread the word & feel free to subscribe to it, buy it, send in articles/ stories about what you're doing, what being a Zimbo 'out of Zim' is for you, finding your long lost matesetc...lets support each other & create a strong community OUTSIDE of Zim so that when things come right, we'll have been part of the process in one way or another...

Reminds me of some blokes i was at uni. with who made shirts that said "Chicks are the enemy" on them for a business project....

Hi all,


I have attended the Zimfest in the UK 3 years in a row now.


It is amazing how many friends pop out of the woodwork. Come on Ryan, you must know enough people to get it started over there.


I put together a small collection of familiar faces from Vale and Ilsa.

It would be hard to get all the Zimbo's in NZ together as they are spread all over the country

The Zimfest in the UK is held in London, but people still travelled from Lancashire (300miles away). If it is organised well, people will travel once a year to catch up with friends. This year there was over3 000 zimbos.

I cant believe i spent 3 years in the UK and never went to one Zim Fest. I suppose back then there wasnt a mass exodus of people leaving Zimbabwe heading overseas.

Great banter boys! ...we need to make this thing happen...will chat to a few folks & see what can be done sponsorship wise maybe...like a brewery or something! (Wonder if SAB/ Natbrew would go for it?)

I think if you advertise it well, the word will spread.


Ibelieve the first Zimfest in the UKhad less than a thousand people. If you are going to do it, I sure lots of people will help.
