What town do we all hail from? And any special reasons why you reckon your town was the best?

Bulawayo.... reason, it was just the bestest place to live ever, we had Matopos on the door step and lovely wide roads with bumps....:smiley36::smiley36: The bestest park with minature railway and at Christmas the best decorations and carols by candelight in the park.

Ok - my participation here may be under false pretences, having never been a Zimbo but a Zambo. However, I consider I was only away from Bullies as people would be who are at boarding school - most of my school holidays were spent there.

I have a great affection for that city, with wonderful times spent and lots of memories. And I preffered it vastly over Harare.

Bulawayo is a one horse town and the horse got the shit kicked out of him by the donkey that then took over and subsequently died. I would still live in Bulawayo before Harare because of the historical value and the people there are generally a nicer bunch. I do get nostalgic moments of when I was in Bulafufu, and they are stronger than the ones from H-Town. Plumtree is where I spent my school days and travelled to Bulies every Thursday to play sport. Hockey was my choice of sport then U/13-2nd team goalie.

I grew up in Harare. When I joined the BSAP, I was posted to Bulawayo. I love both, but there are more family in Harare.

I'm from West nic really, but I tell people I'm from Bulawayo, because no one has ever heard of it. I think Bulawayo is the nicest city in zim, because of the park, and the museum, and the people, to name but a few!!!

And every sunday we used to stock up with booze and go have a braai and drink like super heros at matopos!

Anyone remember the old drive in... we used to sneak all our mates in ... in the boot of the car! I got food posoining form the chips there once!

Mutare was the greatest place to grow up - all my rebellious years were spent at Motors, Sports and occasionally Le Casa. We had the Vumba, Inyanga, Mont Claire, Juliasdale and Lake Alex / Smallbridge. Every weekend there was something going on at Chipinga, Chimanimani etc, etc. It was an awesome place for a young person at that time.

Some of my best shamwari's in the world hail from kwekwe (and I was born in GWELO.....) - they have strange habits and can hardly use cutlery, are almost house trained but they are always there when you need them and fully prepared to have a dop or two. Top folks indeed.

nah, generally when you first arrive in the lowveld, you are taken to a bar call Gazonya on top of a hill, there you are taught the ways of the locals... only once you have your guds / knickers ripped off you and thrown in the rafters, do you get to have your first meal. You could by this time have been there a couple of days...
