Jiggs, will you have my cup of tea waiting with you beside the baobab?

Gee, all I was planning for next weekend was a trip out to Lake Mac. This might be better though...

Gertie - no problem sweetie they serve a fine Chai here just dont stir it - and we cant sit under the Baobab because the Abdoms storks are nesting and its a bit messy

What a pity! It clashes with our party, which is on 15 May.

Another time.

Start your own one. All the others were started by someone.

You need to have contacts to organise these kind of things.

sarahe

true, but if you send out some messages through facebook to friends someone is bound to have some useful contacts. Facebook's a good way of getting the word out too....

I know - it would be great to do that. My secretary is a huge fan as well so I get a bit of a fix here at work every now and again.

You guys should come up to July Braai this year - it would be fantastic.

hhmm... looks like I didn't miss much, except for catching up with shamwaris...

Spent the day showing a bunch of pomms how to cook a braai properly... seriously.. how is the concept of heat beyond them? They just don't seem to understand how to control the heat of a braai (non gas... am a purist) and make sure it is not too hot to burn the food and hot enough to cook it. Heathens.

very true. As a brit myself I'd have to agree. I used to hate bbq food when i was little coz everything was black on the outside, raw on the inside. Then i had a braai... no contest... But then they have fewer nice sunny days to practice on in england :smiley2:

There are several ways of braai'ing in the UK.. the one I had to adpot was the ' under a marquee out of the rain' technicque - this is to be used when the 'in the garage' option is not possible... the is also, although not reccomended the last resort of ' in the shed'.... not advisable without suitable ventilation.

Nailed the sausages and burgers though...

ha ha ha we like the "under the unbrella" technique, although you have to be very careful of flying embers!!!

By the way, just to show braai-ing does not come naturally for some brits.... A few weeks ago i actually saw someone doing the braai wearing swimming goggles so the smoke wouldn't sting his eyes!!!! :smiley36::smiley36::smiley36::smiley36::smiley36:

They're ok if they're lovely big fat juicy homemade burgers, slightly rare, with a big dollop of horseradish mayo..... (I'm making my self hungry now). But the amount of times I've been to braai's and they've served those birds eye frozen burgers the size of a £2 coin... no no no :naughty:

Sun is shining, weather is hot, made the tong and waiting for it to dry. Rugby is a comin', and the beers (cos we can get them) are chillin'. do we really need to say anymore.
