Hi anyone who is interested
I seem to migrate from "Rhodie/Zim" website to "Rhodie/Zim" website. I used to chat on the RWW site until it got overrun by people wanting to heap "*&%$" on each other rather than engage in open discussion. I then had a go on the Reunited site but participation in that just seemed to fade away, dont know why as there were some good contributors. So, having just found out about this one thought I would give it go!!
Am ex Allan Wilson (60 - 63), did national service in 1964, becoming a Sapper, serving in the RhE until I left in 1976. After qualifying, I worked with a firm of engineering consultants in Salisbury, married an ex Jameson High School lass, had 2 children and in 76 was offered a transfer to Jersey in the Channel Islands, hence the departure at that time. We never really settled in the UK, Jersey is only about 120 sq km and we missed the sun and wide open spaces. So, we packed up and headed for Australia and have been happliy settled in Perth ever since.
Cheers

Hi Ozwheels, welcome to our wonderful home from home. You'll find us a happy bunch, very little aggro here, we all get along quite well. If you need a hand with anything just yell. In the meantime, put your feet up, grab a beer and settle right down.

Thanks also to you Howard Neill for the welcome, I remember you from the "other site" and as I recall you too were a sapper at some point in your career. Yes, looking at the age of many on this website, many were not even born when I left, a generational shift to be sure.

Tx pennymac - The WA country is even better, great beaches in the south and fantastic scenery in the far north.

Hi OZ
You are quite right. We were the 13th Intake - 2 Field Squadron, at KG VI Barracks. It was peace time soldiering in those days - 1962.
You will enjoy it here.
Cheers
