I heard a rumour that it's sparked tsunami warnings for the Australian East coast too but I can't find any evidence on the web just yet. If anyone has links please post them....thanks.

Thanks, guys. We had a few waves around Tassie and also south of Sydney but nothing to write home about. Still some after-shocks going on, though.

It has been NZ's biggest earthquake in 80 years. And nearly no damage They thing that it was because it happened in rock, rather than the clay base that most of the country is made of. Oh, and the good thing is that it has possibly loaded up the other surrounding faults (like the one my house is built on), so we are on high alert for another one.
