A dangerous post to start at best, but i am sure all the torque lovers among you will enjoy some banter about how great Ferrari/ McLaren are & how the rules disadvantaged your supremacy etc (while Renault was quietly going about the business of kickin ass & collecting the drivers & constructors championships...so, with that, i open this discussion to the floor....

Well the 2006 season will be interesting with the new Specs of the engines and so on.
Ferrari have been testing their new V8 Engine in there 2004 and 2005 car at Bahrain on a shorter circuit, and all I can say is the V8 engines are slow..smileys/smiley13.gif
The Pit Stops will be back to normal as the drivers will be allowed to change tyres again. YAY.. No more sitting around checking the pressures and tread depth..Edited by: Poison

The thing is you need to actually go see these cars in action to appreciatethem. It's so amazing, the speed and the noise of those machines is incredible.
Those cars travel at around 83m a second. Down the straights.smileys/smiley5.gif
FerrariSucks

83 metres a second, that only 12 times faster than man can run. They need to make them go faster.
Mclaren had too many engine problems, if Kimi and Juan can stay on the track and finish more races next season, then i am sure Mclaren will take it next year.
Only time will tell. Like I said before, its man and machine.

"I said that at mid-season I will decide if I want to go on or not go on, and 99 percent I do this with Ferrari if I go on, I should say 99.9,” he told the press at Ferrari’s annual ski meeting.
In the past Schumacher has always pledged his future to the Italian team and he maintained that his comments were not an indication of any specific desire to leave Ferrari, but rather the result of nothing in life being certain.
“Who can look so far in advance, and who can tell what is going to happen, particularly in our sport where things sometimes move rather quickly?” he added. “And as I said, I don't want to lie and therefore I am saying the truth and 99 percent that is what it is and then we will see."

Raikkonen Hits Early Problem
11/03/2006 08:03 AM
Alan Baldwin
Kimi Raikkonen re-lived past nightmares on Friday when an electrical problem halted his McLaren on the first day of practice for the Formula One season-opener in Bahrain.
The 2005 championship runner-up, dogged by engine failure in the past, slowed at turn four of the desert Sakhir circuit during the afternoon's second hour-long session.
The Finn helped marshals push the stricken car off the track before getting a ride back to the paddock on a motorcycle.
Raikkonen had been the fastest race driver in a soporific first session, with Renault's 24-year-old world champion Fernando Alonso and other race favourites making only fleeting appearances.
BMW Sauber's Polish reserve driver, Robert Kubica, was quickest in the morning on his first appearance at a grand prix weekend.
The afternoon was busier. All 22 drivers lapped and Briton Anthony Davidson, Honda's test driver, was quickest with a time of 1:31.353 despite gearbox problems.
Ferrari's Michael Schumacher emerged as the day's fastest race driver, 0.398 seconds off Davidson's pace in a boost for the seven times champion after a dismal 2005 season.
"I think that compared to the other teams, we are looking competitive," said the German. "What is clear however is that Renault seem to be very quick straight out of the box which gives them an edge."
Good Day
Alonso, the youngest champion in Formula One history, did no timed laps in the morning but was fifth quickest in the afternoon.
"We had a good first day," said the Spaniard, taking to the track with the number one on his Renault for the first time. "The car feels like it did in winter testing. It is comfortable to drive and consistent."
However Alonso was less than two tenths quicker than Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi, whose Toro Rosso car with a restricted V10 engine was a surprising and controversial sixth in a field of V8-powered rivals.
"I'd say my good time was down to the fact that we did four days testing here last month," said Liuzzi.
Italian Jarno Trulli, in a Toyota, parked up during the afternoon session due to an electronics problem.
With a new three-part qualifying format forcing drivers to do more mileage on Saturday, while engines must still last for two successive races, the big names had no incentive to spend much time on track.
Sunday's race in Bahrain and steamy Malaysia the following weekend are two of the hottest and most demanding on engines.
"The new format of the weekend has seen teams take a variety of different approaches to their Friday running but, as we expected, the running was quite limited overall," said Renault engineering director Pat Symonds.
"I am not sure we have yet seen the true state of play between the teams."
Japan's Super Aguri, the new 11th team, made a first appearance with Takuma Sato and Yuji Ide.
Ide, whose only Formula One experience before arriving in Bahrain amounted to 44 laps of the Barcelona circuit in a car derived from a four-year-old Arrows chassis, was slowest.

Kimi did have a good drive. He made up 9 it into 12th or so at the begining. But Ferrari is back this year, if Massa didn't spin out under breaking it would have been Ferrari 2 and 3...
It will be a very good season though..

Ferrari Offer Schumacher Two More Years
Ferrari want to extend Michael Schumacher's contract for two more years and have offered him an immediate opt-out clause if he wins another Formula One title, Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Schumacher's spokeswoman Sabine Kehm dismissed the report as "pure speculation".
The newspaper reported that Ferrari had offered the seven times champion an annual salary of 35 million euros, which it said was identical to the conditions of his current deal.
"The best part of it is that it doesn't tie Schumacher unconditionally for two more years," Bild said. "He could, if he wanted to, get out of it without any problem sooner.
"He could opt out after the 2007 season -- or even after the current season -- because the new 70-million euro contract has a 'world champion clause'. If he had the title in his pocket he could quit the next day, if he wanted to."
Schumacher took his 85th career win at Imola on Sunday and moved into second place overall in the driver's standings, 15 points behind Renault's world champion Fernando Alonso.
Schumacher intends to cut that gap at his home circuit, the Nuerburgring, at the next race on May 7.
Bild suggested Schumacher could even announce his decision to stay another two years at that race, near his hometown of Kerpen.
Although the 37-year-old has yet to decide whether to continue racing after the end of the season, he has said he sees no reason to stop if he is still enjoying himself.

Can Michael Schumacher scoop the jackpot with Ferrari as the Formula One field heads for Monte Carlo this weekend? For a variety of reasons the seven-time champion has been frustrated on the streets of the Principality in recent years, denied the sixth victory that will draw him level with the late Ayrton Senna. In front of an elated crowd of tens of thousands of people, Formula One Management today announced that Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, has secured the rights to host a Formula One Grand Prix from 2009.
On behalf of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the announcement was made to the public who had gathered to watch the sport's elite at the first-ever Abu Dhabi F1 Festival - featuring the largest gathering of current Formula One drivers and cars ever assembled outside of a Grand Prix.
An official signing ceremony immediately followed at the stunning Emirates Palace Hotel by the Chairman and CEO of Formula One Management, Bernie Ecclestone and the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA), His Excellency Khaldoon Al Mubarak, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
"A Formula One Grand Prix is one of the world's most prestigious sporting events, in the same category as an Olympic Games or World Cup, and is unrivalled in terms of continuous global resonance. That is why this new partnership is such an exciting one for Abu Dhabi and the entire UAE," said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"For Abu Dhabi, and indeed the whole of the UAE, the opportunities that are presented by increased international attention and connectivity will deliver very real macroeconomic benefits."
Abu Dhabi, the capital, and largest of the seven Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, will provide an idyllic location for one the world's most popular sport. With over 200 natural islands, offering some of the most untouched beaches in the region, it is fast becoming one of the most sought out destinations in the world.
Formula One Management CEO Bernie Ecclestone commented: "We are delighted to welcome Abu Dhabi into the Formula One family, and look forward to a long and successful partnership. Abu Dhabi's hospitality, the genuine warmth of its people, and ever increasing number of world class facilities, will ensure that its round of the FIA Formula One World Championship is a wonderful addition to the Formula One calendar."
The 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix track is being constructed by ALDAR Properties, one of the UAE's leading property development companies, and designed by renowned Formula One circuit designer Hermann Tilke.
Already under construction, the track is situated on a 2,550 hectare, natural leisure island, Yas Island, situated on the east coast of Abu Dhabi and only minutes away from the expanding Abu Dhabi International Airport.
"Abu Dhabi will bring its own unique culture, landscape and fans to the F1 experience," said HE Khaldoon Al Mubarak. "The track design alone is an indication of the visionary approach we are taking and I am confident we will deliver something truly special," he added.
"Spectators will enjoy high speed action played out on three distinct sections of the 5.6km circuit, including high speed areas ending in tight overtaking turns, a street section and a marina section. Each section of the circuit combines to deliver an unrivalled viewing experience."
