Not really going there, just thought I would wind up everyone who does not where the exotic island of Rottnest is, or indeed what delights it has to offer!!!

I'll bet that 90% of TCB'ers will have no idea what a quokka is either!!!

I'll find you all a photo and post it next week. They're cute ratty looking creatures, about the size of a dassie.

hahahaha Penny im between projects at the moment - been on unpaid leave for 3 months (2 of which i requested for personal things - weddings in Uk and USA) this last month has been off as a rest month while i wait for projects to get finalized for Pakistan or Afghanistan.... DRC nad Mali was on the cards but may try find something with Jiggs on Somalia as its close to the missus in Kenya. my thinking is if there is a recession why not make the most of it - take the time off while things are slow so when the global economy kicks off then you can work hard and make the shilling as opposed to sitting around waiting for those 2.5 days a month to accrue!

Not to be confused with the quagga, the extinct zebra looking creature of South Africa

I do - I went to Rotnest in 2005 when we were in Perth on holiday - it is so beautiful. Took loads of photos of quokka's - they are so cute!
We are hoping to be in Aus next year to visit the family and hopefully go to Rotnest again! :smiley20:

If I could I would love to go back to Zim on HOLIDAY....(Just incase the home office are getting ideas) to see my sister as I have not seen her for about 5 years now. Never been able to give my nephew a cuddle yet and he is almost 5. If I won the lotto I would also go to Aus and New Zeland to see the Mac's

Hey TN, we live in Perth, if you do come over here, we have to catch up!!
Did you snorkel in the coral on Rotto? It's the southern most coral in the world I"m told. There's meant to be good diving round there too.
Shame Sam, you'll have to get Jo to come out there with the littlies.

I will definitely have to visit you when we are there. Don't know when we are coming yet - have to work that out but will definitely let you know. I also need to get over to Melbourne to see my sister - eish but it is harsh when a country is so damn huge!!!!!
I didn't snorkel but my hubby and son did and they loved it. It is such a beautiful place - it is pure paradise!
