Hi all,
Our last local meeting of the year was a quiz which was a bit disappointing as only about 20 people came. However those who did had an absolutely fantastic evening and enjoyed the quiz the beer and the craic.
We hosted the National dinner dance at the Calcot Hotel in Reading on Saturday 14th November. It was an absolutely fantastic do and we had 151 people who came from all over the UK and Europe. What a great evening and party probably the best dinner dance ever and we raised much needed funds for our charity. Dan and Cherry Coetzee did a fantastic job with the bookings and Ronnie and Chantelle Hill and friends did a fantastic job organizing the hall, decorations, menus etc. Thank you to everyone who helped on the weekend. Paul Meredith kindly provided a signed Craig Hilton Barbour print which was framed by Naula Whales of Inner peace framing studio free of charge. This fantastic piece of art kindly donated raised £350 at auction for ZRWAF.
Financial details of funds raised in 2009. The branch made a profit of £689 on our local meetings and this was sent to ZANE (Zimbabwe a National Emergency) specifically earmarked to help our pensioner who are still in Zimbabwe. We have now sent ZANE almost £2,000 in the last few years from local branch activities. I would like to thank all our members who contributed throughout the year what a fantastic effort. You can have a copy of our accounts and receipt from Zane by sending a stamped addressed envelope to John O’ Brien c/o Dovetail HRS 19 The Broadway, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 1AS.
Our next meeting is not until spring next year and will be a braai and Easter egg hunt. I will send out complete details of next year’s program of events early in the New Year.
