For those in the UK there is a show on ITV1 right now called Lion Country featuring on the declining lion population in Zim - it should be a good one with, hopefully, reminders of some places we all love back home.

It was great. I wonder if it is an ongoing programme. I hope so.

LION COUNTRY: ABOUT THE SERIES
Episode 1: Wednesday 6th Jan 2010 at 7.30pm on ITV1.

David Youldon is an Englishman with a passion for lions and a determination to stem their decline before it’s too late. Numbers of wild African lions have dropped by as much as 80% in the last 50 years and David and his colleagues at the African Lion & Environmental (http://www.itv.com/#) Research Trust are amongst those fighting to halt the process. They run a controversial programme in which captive-bred lions are encouraged to develop their natural skills so they can live independently and their cubs can be released into the wild.

In Episode 1, five month old Jabari and Jelani, two delightful cubs, begin the ‘walking out’ process designed to hone their hunting skills and 13 month oldDhakiya receives treatment for an abscess caused by a side swipe from her playful brother Damisi.

my brother worked with breeding Lions (an crocs) at Pamazinda, near Selous on the Ngezi road, straight out of school - the things scare the hibijibbies out of me but he is certainly more confident around them!
