Well, I'm gobsamcked - I've never bothered cleaning keyboards and here's an article all about it, with 779 comments.

I clean my qwerty board once a week. First using the vacuum cleaner brush and then a couple of swabs, to remove the build up of grime at least once a month. I also helps to remove static build up. I was given a present of an key board and screen cleaning kit, it helps...:whistling:

Once a year I turn mine over and give it a shake for a minute or two! Hey presto, I end up with a desk full of dust, crumbs, pubes, beard hairs, paper clips and woodlice. Then I just scoop the lot onto the floor. Job's a good'un!

LOL - I don't think I have cleaned a computer keyboard in my life!!!! When I worked for Silke Computers in Zim that was the only time keyboards were cleaned but the Techies used to do it - I used to stand back and watch!!! :smiley36:

obvious things to make sure if ur keyboard is wireless don't do it... if u don't have a spare keyboard don't do it.
if u really want to clean ur keyboard get a small screwdriver and pop off the keys if you have a laptop keyboard where the keys are on 2 clips, don't! these are a pain in the hiney to put back, however if you have a standard keyboard this is fine to do. pop them off clean them in soapy water, or use windolene (do u even get that here)
if u really want to go 1 step further you can strip the keyboard down and wash the external plastics but that's a right pain in the ass, so i'd advise just getting a stiff bristled paint brush of tooth brush and just brush out the crumbs etc sorted!
