One Tusk was taken out a couple of years ago thanks to our revellers at the NAU.
I was there for close on the last fortnight and because the lake is so high everything comes to you.
At present it goes for 150$ a day, minimum 8 beds. How you arrange little ones is up to you. Never thought I'd end up taking IKEA stuff to Kariba !!!!

I have decided that someday soon well at least in the next year or so, we have to go back home to zim for a proper holiday, FS wants to go to Leopard rock and i want Kariba so might have to do both! and then in 5 years +/- we will move back on the condition that its ok for us to go back, as i am sure you know what i mean.

Breezes is closed for renovations I think? ...... Mopane Bay has been closed since about year 2000 as they were supposed to be building a golf course but it never got off ground.... I only found about that last year as having not been to Zim for over 10 years, went to Mopane Bay in the hope of meeting up with campers and drinking, was instead greeted with goats and chickens running around.... real sad....:smiley19:

Think Charara is the place to be for New Years now, but you have to be prepared for the fact that the average age of those attending is about 17 ... 18 at a push!

The term *ankle biters* gets used a lot by every over the age of 25!

Think I might have to go this year though ... just to make sure I'm too old!

**WARNING** this thread had already been hijacked about 3 or 4 posts before mine ...

I think Breezes was levelled to build some fancy lodges - it no longer exists!

Charara's still the place for New Years...but staying there is crap. Last year we stayed in Vundu Bay and it was so awesome not even drunken kids running around trying to get laid

You have the perfect customer profile.
I don't think I've felt so relaxed in years after staying there for 10 days. I found the drive from Harare easy to do, with the state of the roads better than what I'm used to in Greece.
Have made a great effort to make the lodge comfortable, especially for the ladies. Kariba is not just for fishing and a New Year's Party. It's for life !

It was. My in-laws had a chalet there, right on the edge of the lake. Used to park the boat outside. All gone now!!!:smiley19:

I was working there in 2006 when they started demolishing it. Very sad. Last year when we went back to Kariba for a visit, not much had happened - a few attempts at some lodges were built and work done on the harbour. But I hear things grinded to a halt when money ran out.

Not sure what the plan is there now:smiley19:.
