Well ive just finished watching The Goonies and im inspired!!
got me thinking what other movies/ TV shows enthralled me when i was growing up.
heres a short list
1) The Goonies - that was real adventure and as a kid there was no greater movie to get your imagination into overdrive
2) ET - triumph of the human spirit
3) Star Wars - what can i say, i was captivated and have probably watched the original series over 100 times now
4) Time Bandits - the weirdest eclectic mix of fantasy and comedy way ahead of its time and a great adventure story.
hmm notice a theme anyone :D :D

Don't forget that I am old, so my movie viewing days stretch back a long way. Around the late 50s TV was having an adverse impact on cinema box office sales. To offset this, along came "The Epics", with their casts of 1,000s:-
The Ten Commandments
Around The World in 80 Days
Ben Hur
Anthony & Cleopatra
The Longest Day
In 1963 I was at the movies, in Bulawayo, and, in between Rothman's Ads, they showed a trailer for a forthcoming attraction. It was "Dr No", staring Sean Connery as James Bond. I became an instant fan.
Not long after that, we had Peter Sellers, as Inspector Clouseau
Both of those series became family favourites, when the family came into my life.
Mid seventies - we had Star Wars and Superman.
Eighties - there was Indiana Jones, Officer & a Gentleman
Somewhere around that time was "The Gods Must be Crazy"
In the nineties, I remember Scent of a Woman and not much else.
Last year we enjoyed "Invictus"
There must be so many which we left out.
Cheers

who can forget Dead Poets Society as an inspirational movie?
I did admire the movies Steve Biko, the Power of One and Tshaka Zulu..
but the Matrix was an all time inspiration in every way!
