Here are some early photos of Salisbury.

The Anglican Church, intially sited in 1891 on Harare St between Albion and
Speke, before it was moved to its current site in 1898

The romanesque Anglican Cathedral, which was started in 1913, approaches
completion of Phase 1next to the old church, now demolished

View from the Kopje in 1898 showing some buildings still there and others
not. Pocket's Hill in distance is bare

This shot shows the dominance of Market Square in the foreground

The Cameron St Brewery built in 1899 on the eastern side of the road,
between Charter and Albion, was demolished in 1960s

SABMiller took over the Brewery Company, the forerunner to Delta in 1910,
exactly 100 years ago

The Castle Brewery stand at the Harare Agricultural Show in 1912

The southern end of First St before the Standard Chartered Bank was built in
1911. An huge anthill had dominated the site and is the reason First St did
not go down to Kenneth Kaunda Ave

First St after the Standard Bank (as it was then) was built

The original Harare Railway Station, now demolished

Commercial Hotel, forerunner to the Grand, corner First/Speke, on which the
ZB Headquarters are now situated

The Palace Theatre, corner Kwame Nkrumah/First St, an institution until it
was demolished and replaced by ZB Centre

A second view from First St

The Grand Theatre, corner First/Silundika, where QV/Copyworld/Econet is
today

The opening of the original museum, on which Girls High School's hall stands
today

Practising at the rifle range at Gun Hill, from which it gets its name
