Belgian tactician Tom Saintfiet failed to get a work permit to manage Zimbabwean Warriors two months after he was appointed to the new post.
The decision has now forced Zifa leadership to urgently meet and find Saintfiet replacement. Zifa president Cuthbert Dube was quoted in The Herald saying that his board would convene in Harare at the end of the week to discuss the appointment of a new substantive tactician for the senior team in the wake of a rejection by the Department of Immigration of Saintfiet's application for a work permit.
The Zifa boss reiterated that Black Mambas technical advisor Madinda Ndlovu would only be in charge of the Warriors during their international friendly against Mozambique in Maputo on Wednesday.
Zifa had been hoping that Saintfiet would have had his application approved either by the time the Warriors travel to Maputo or at least in time for the senior team's preparations for the African Championships of Nations finals in January. Saintfiet even picked the squad that will travel to Maputo.
"It is now official that Tom (Saintfiet) is not going to be our coach at least for the time being. We will discuss it as a board when we meet in Harare on Friday but I have already been told that it is pointless to appeal Tom's case to the Department of Immigration so we will have to find another coach," he said.
"We have a friendly in Mozambique next Wednesday and Madinda Ndlovu will be in charge of the team for that game only. By the time we go to CHAN in Sudan Zifa will have appointed a substantive coach and this is one of our priority areas, we do not want to repeat the mistakes that affected our preparations for the match against Cape Verde at home which we could have won."
