I loved Nyanga. I can almost smell those pine tree forrests, feel the cold chill and hear the stillness. I loved going to Troutbeck and doing trout fishing and thenhaving a game of golf. The waterfalls, the pools (as you mentioned), the campsites filled with all your mates.

Ah, those were the days.

Nyanga- Inn on Ruparara... great couple spot, you do the rest!

Twin rivers for that babalaas curing lunch en route back to HRE after a drunkard week in Kariba.

Sampakaruma Island for over drunk day trips!

Mapane bay for late comers- sleep in the car sort of humour because it was a good idea to drive to Kariba at mid- night?

Dombashawa for sun uppers because it was a good idea to carry on drinking at 6am. The climb sobered you up!

The RIVER... need I say more?

Playing pool twister with a bunch of SA chicks and getting blasted on amarula they supplied.

piling into any arb bakkie that came past so you could get a lift to Windosr diesel, Caribea bay or "Breezes"

It was a great spot. Took a dive later on though. Usaully stayed at Breezer time shares! Mupane- walking around and knowing half the camp site- each turn happened with a different song blarring, the pool always had floaties (tatty). No one drank normally from glasses- it had to be a chigubu of sorts!

Cleveland dam - - do you know that that place is the only place left in zim - well - was the the only place in zim where you could catch trout, black bass, smallmouth bass, bream, barbel and bluegill

The trout died out cause they couldnt breed (too warm)but I know Gary Jarvis caught a couple of smallmouth there. and bluegill were known to be in there as well

yes Smallmouth bass & bluegill (like in the US of A) - a bit of fishing trivia for you all

ok here are some more "A" class spots -

Mana Pools,

Matopos,

Darwendale fishing -outstanding!

Mazvikadei waterskiing & Spearfishing for those massive Nilo's that look like dinner plates

A bit of a fisheman huh? I used to enjoy fly fishing... so much cleaner and you're always active. Especially on rivers- difficult to get our rod around the trees and shrubs! Good fun & feels like you really deserve the catch!

Good photie chap! We don't do too much fishing here unfortunately. Got a small damn on our factory premises which we do use sometimes for weekend braais... good fun for the kids... as just small bream types- palm size in general. However, they've got this wierd game fish here, which we're going to go and try for after winter up north. It's called a snake head fish & grows to about 30lbs.

snake head are legend mate - i would love to catch one - I would also love to hit a barra or two but there are other good fish up north of perth that i would also die to lay into -

Queenfish, Barra, Mangrove jacks, threadfin salmon, Spanish Mackeral etc...

Barra is actually very good eating tiger... it is almost exactly the same as eating Nile perch & that is expensive meat in SA

Does this sort of thing bring back any memories for people? The lamp post blunder was not far from my house.
