View Full Version : Shark Attack!!

This unfortunate cape fur seal got to experience those infamous teeth only once - and they were the last things it saw. In astonishing footage for the BBC's Planet Earth series, the 12ft shark is seen swallowing its victim in virtually a single gulp. Such is the impact as it blasts through the surface from the deep that both hunter and prey fly six feet clear of the water.

The dramatic ambush was captured on camera near South Africa's Seal Island, six miles from Cape Town.
Packs of Great Whites, each weighing up to a ton, hunt around the island, and the BBC's camera team filmed every stage of the grisly process for next Sunday's programme.

This is the only place on the planet where you are guaranteed to see Great Whites (White Pointers for those who are of the Australian persuasion) breach every day!

Oh thats crazy. What a huge bloddy shark. I'd crap my pants if I saw one that size.

I love swimming in the ocean at durban beach, but I always make sure there are a few fatter people than I in front of me. Cause my thought is that the shark will go for them first giving me enough time to hopefully get away.

I also went with my dad in Durban at the aquarium scuba diving in the shark tank. Very scary but so awesome.

The worst I have seen scuba diving are a few baracuda's looking at me. I think I may have dropped a #2 in my wet suit even at that. I'm a bit of a scardy cat.

Sharks are one fo the most amazing creatures. They freak me out but I can't stop watching them for some reason on the discovery channel.

i have come face to face with a couple of barracuda, but they are fine, the one thing i dont like are those jelly fish, my whole face got stung, man it was painful!! but generally, i tend to forget about the dangers of the deep and try and enjoy the beauty, it also save on air when you are down there!!!

It doesn't have to be the biggest shark - just a meat eater the size of that scares the poo-poo out of me too.:smiley5:
