I am wondering whether Jaws or Return to Eden had anything to do with my fear of dark water too... that and the stories of people flying over Kariba and seeing crocs following the boats in the middle of nowhere and a lake that I lived near in Canada that had a Lochness-type monster called Ogopogo living in it. I can water ski quite happily and I love it, but my butt cheeks mince the whole time and my feet are kept as high up as possible - certainly an incentive to stay up.

I've heard of that before.....it's got something to do with hearing them popping as kids, gives kids a huge fright so the phobia develops.


I don't have very good balance so I'm sceptic of anything that will test it - like heights or walking on uneven ground or walking in the dark. If I walk at night with no lighting I have to hold on to someone otherwise I'll 'pussy-foot' along.

my problem isnt a hole...its one of the valves. it doesnt open/shut properly, allowing too much/little blood thru my system...my doc reckoned as long as i didnt do anything stupid i should be fine...in theory i should never have been allowed on a rugby field...
