Effective January 2007

Dress Code
It is advised that you come to work dressed according to your salary. If
we see you wearing new clothes , we assume you are doing well
financially and therefore do not need a raise. If you dress poorly, you
need to learn to manage your money better, so that you buy nicer
clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise. If you dress just right,
you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a
raise.

Sick Days
We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof of sickness. If
you are able to go to the doctor, you are able to come to work.

Personal Days
Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called
Saturday & Sunday.

Bereavement Leave
This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead
friends, relatives or co-workers. Every effort should be made to have
non-employees attend to the arrangements. In rare cases where employee
involvement is necessary, the funeral should be scheduled in the late
afternoon.

Toilet Use
Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a
strict three-minute time limit in the stalls. At the end of three
minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the
stall door will open, and a picture will be taken. After your second
offence, your picture will be posted on the company bulletin board under
the "Chronic Offenders category". Anyone caught smiling in the picture
will be sanctioned under the company's mental health policy.

Lunch Break
Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more, so
that they can look healthy. Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch
to get a balanced meal to maintain their average figure. Chubby people
get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's all the time needed to drink a
Slim-Fast.

Thank you for your loyalty to our company. We are here to provide a
positive employment experience. Therefore, all questions, comments,
concerns, complaints, frustrations, irritations, aggravations,
insinuations, allegations, accusations, contemplations, consternation
and input should be directed elsewhere.

Brilliant... I am sure that most of us can make up more to add to that...

If you are a parent and both your kids happen to come down with chicken pox within 2 weeks of one another, sort it out pronto and brace yourself for a disciplinary hearing because you had to take that much time off work... other parents rely on grandparents to help out in times of trouble and it isn't the companies fault that your parents happen to live on the other side of the world in the middle of Africa somewhere.

It was just the depth that varied as far as my kids were concerned squeakyB, it was a nightmare. It didn't help at the time either because my husband's boss believes that it is a woman's responsiblility to sort the problems out regarding kids and he couldn't take time off either.

You seriously have a good case!!!!

I was made redundant 2 years ago under even dodgier circumstances danndall and did the compulsory lawyer thing at the time, I was advised that I was treated appallingly, but that the company had too many other things that they could pull out of their hat behind the scenes (statistics and figures that I didn't have access to) to justify their actions (never mind the way that I was treated), so it wasn't worth it. I just walked away. I have never been treated so badly in my life before and as a consequence am very cautious about walking into any other full-time job in this country again.

It would take a lot for me being a loyal employee to trust employers again.

Whilst I am looking forward to having children I am not looking forward to all this drama - hopefully my work will be understanding if needed - only time will tell....

You seriously have a good case!!!!

Things here in Jersey are not like in the mainland - only recently have employees had a leg to stand on - up until July last year an employer could do what the heck they liked... rules have only just come into place and its still new so not all cases are taken into consideration...

I know I have a good case but its done and dusted now and to be honest its such a small island if I did take them to a tribunal it would ldramatically lower my chances of finding another job "bush telegraph" is amazing fast and well chinese whispers is even more rife!!!
