Hell, i used to know loads of people. I went out with Jenny Jones for a long time and also went out with Ursula Duff. I'm trying to remember who my big mates were there but its been quite a while i forgot who is from where. I left school in '94.
I remember Des Fountain being expelled from Shed for super gluing that one dudes eyes shut while he slept! Hah hahahaha.

THere are SO many Amms in SA...the story goes if you shake a tree in the Eastern Cape, then an Amm will fall out... 'shed kids were pretty funny okes...know Christy Martin (now married to an Ex CBC boy) & then the usual clowns like Reagan Smith, Rory Van Heerden, Raymond Price, Ashley Day, Ann & David Bellringer, forget his name now, big coloured guy who played no.8 for 1st XV, then of course that W'shed cricketing/ rugby playing legend, the plumpest flyhaf in christendom (well definitely in Zim anyways!) reagan and I were in the same class, played hockey together, was a good mate and the best sportsman ive ever seen,
he was in the squash team, rugby team, hockey team, cricket team tennis team, swimming team, cross country, only game he didnt play was basketball, no guesses as to why though. :)
---
dunno about rugby legend but hoffie was a great cricketer, as is Ray Price
Just a pity that his career has been hobbled by those K4's that run the zim team.
TiGeR

Yes, its a tragedy whats happened not only to Zim, but to talented folk from Zim who have lost out on careers & opportunities because of all the shyte...Hoffers was a rugby legend @ Shed from what i seem to recall...on that field that was concave! (remember playing fullback & standing o my 22 & seeing the guys on the other side's 22 from the knees up cos of the unlevel field!) Ray & i go all the way back to gr 4! He's a good man..& got a 6 mth old lightie now...

when you next speak to him tell i say howzit - i missed him the last time he was in Perth smileys/smiley2.gif
yeah we used practice our golf drives from the one end of the rugby field.. used lose so many balls hey, cause we could never see where they landed..haha
Christy Martin - yeehaa she was one fine chick, really down to earth and not stuck like most harare cows. She played hockey for Alex with me and ivy for a while. My best mate had such a thing for her but was never brave enough to ask her out.
pity....

Ha h hah hahhhah. I remember that big coloured guy from Shed. What was his name?
biffon
11-14-2005, 02:13 AM
I played for sports a couple of years after i left school...1997 -1998
I never got into it that much though, im more of a hockey man, just didnt have the upper body strength needed for club rugby, i was always getting pounded , concussion, ripped ears, black eyes, torn shoulder ligaments...
im tryiong to remember the name of that "big coloured guy". I just can't put a face to a name.. though i know he was related to the Rose Clan.
TiGeR
11-14-2005, 04:55 AM
He certainly was part of that 'clan'...quite a funny dude- except when he lost it on the rugger park, then he was a crazy oke...i remember playing against MCDs @ school &someone grabbed his nuts...lets just say i was VERY happy to be a back & FAR away from the action at ruck & maul time! Have had a few jols with him& his Mrsin Hre at the Keg (much to my detriment!)
Ja, rugger is a pretty wild game- used to jol for Sports club when i was home on varsity vacs, but i 'retired' hurt in 2000 (knee op, shoulder op, ankle op later!) Miss playing but started coaching in 1997 so just did the coaching courses & havent looked back! Have been enjoying coaching boneheads & when you get them to think instead of just bashing it up, they can play pretty good footie! (helps to have an engelsman at9 & 10!) smileys/smiley36.gifSo what you doin in Oz?Edited by: TiGeR

Geez there was some funny shit in the old days! Remember playing @ Watershed in U15 as the main game in their funny MCD "Country festival"? (think it was like the Marondera Agric. Show or something)...Cawood buggering around in the warm up (ALWAYS used to only roll his ankles a few times!) & pissing Abbo off!

Yeah I remember all of them Shed people.
Big coloured dude was Styx (Bryan Arnold). Although there were some giants @ Shed - Remember Mike Ndweni
Grant & Ian Amm both in SA - did hear Grant had tied the knot, saw him about 6-7 years ago in the keg. Jeesh did not believe how big he had got.
Did not realise Chirsty was married, saw about2 years ago in London. Good looking girl. I know Rogan got married a while back, lives in the US.
Reagan top bloke and a very good hockey player. Believe he is in the UK, have not seen him.
Hoffman - Andre, legened cricketeer - smashed my batting record with a 177 no when he was in form 1.
Ray Price, bumped into him @ wimbledon station. He was off to play cricket for Warickshire with Streaky. Have not heard from in a while.
Ursula is in AUS, i believe - i see her sister Toni and Charlene Huxham quite often out and about in Wimbledon.
Anne Bellringer is still in Zim last I heard. Bumped into her brother in Harare about 5 months ago, did not recognise him but he remembered me, hard to forget i suppose since i used to bully the little guy.
The one thing Shed had when I was there was the hottest babes. Here are some
Anne Marie Souster
Angela Sinclair
Elaine Martin
to name a few

Why yes master Hammond I did attemd Shed for 4 years....
& no no no, my record was 103 and then Hoffman came along in form 1
and smashed 177 NO. To be honest I don't remember who had the record at
the time because I do remember some other biggies
Gary Du Plesis 107
Jannie Stander 115
& I think Bart Hares hit 105
but Andre H defo hit 177 no in form 1. was a bit unfair coz i am sure
his old queen was feeding hit steroids because he looked like he should
have been in form4 when in form 1

Yup the bad year which included
Myself
Keith Edminson
Adam Collis
Bart hares
Brett Synman
Conraad Burger
Mike Henderson
Rogan Martin
Ian Amm
Kevin Powers (Powergigira - speel check word on that puppy)
To name a few
And Hammy I was a legend cricketeer @ Shed, until I gave it up after i was denied a zim selection.
The legends while i was there were
Gary Du Plesis
Myself
Reagan Smith
Andre Hoffman
At the time I left I am pretty sure my bowling record of
8 wickets for 12 runs, inc a hatrick was still intact (ok was against
Oriel and those did not know which end of the bat to hold).
Keith Ed also had 8fa for 15, inc a hatrick against Oriel on the same day for First XI.
Funnily enough while I was there Ray Price was not that great, he definately went further than any us with the game though.

aaah the memories...
some of the more memorable events we had....
Bissetts cars fuel spiked with sand by Shaun Panter
actually Shaun panter was almost always involved in someway - bushfires, stoning trains, smoking in dorms, dagga etc
anyway mass beatings by Armstrong (more than once!)
some kids eyelids being glued shut with superglue
fights in the squash courts - grandstand views!
i could go on....

Ah yes the mass beating, I managed to avoid that as I was on hostel
guard duty that evening. Glen works for MK airlines now as a load
master. Played in the Tony Oates memorial cricket festival a couple of
months ago and saw Peter Whalley, he is now teaching in the south of
Mud Island.
Bissets car was Funbarred by the 3, Panter - Mark Ruck & Dustan
Williams. And it was sugar they put in the petrol tank not sand. In a
strange turn of events Dustan's bro married my sister. DW is now a Dad.
Gretchen was Anne Marie's mate for while. I remember Nicky used to run
with Jenny Jones at school, can't remember who else was in that crowd.
My best memory is Mike Ndweni & Kurai Chemedza, taking on a couple
of CBC boys in the toilets after a rugga game, while the entire boys
section surrounded the toilets and cheered. Parents & teachers
could not get near the hostel. Another one was Ashut Abdulla and
Herbert Hanscombe's dipstick.
Yup Hammy those are impressive figures, but they were really shit.
My team got them out for about 40 and about the same for keiths team.

Patrick Marrillier refusing to get beaten by Armstrong and getting away with it - they now work together at MK Airlines - Ironic?
across the river at the prison beer hall.. Intimate memories of cheap Don Juan Brandy.. eish that stuff was potent! tasted like petrol but did the job.
Oh yeah and Conraad burger chasing me, playing Clay laakie and i ran straight into a barbed wire fence - had to have 14 stitches on my legs.... ouch! despite the pain i think i was happier i didnt have to play against conraad again, that guy was psycho!!

The Watershed crew- some cruel heads there. I started with Ian Amm & Mark Futter at Bothahoff in '82- they both left for Shedsenior school around the same time I left for Malawi. Good lads.
Reagan used to work for us in Harare (trainee)- he was a good lad but unfortunately didn't get on with the boss boy as he was caught playing cricket in the warehouse during his night shift. My cousin also went to Shed- Vanessa Mavromatis (no I'm not Greek... alright)- she's in Aus now & for her sins she used to date Chad Patterson! I later found out that Shed lads were ok butwhen I was atVale I used to know this dutchman (Hulgard Muller)- and he was my idea of a Shed lad until i visited. Man this lad wasthe tattiest clutch plate I knew- snot marks on his blazer. He even dyed his Shed velies black so that he didn't have to buy new shoes for vale... Shed vellies- fuck my boot, those were humour!!
Hated playing Rugby there- ant hills in the middle of the pitch... holes from some stray oke in Agro class who though he'd try and grow mellies on the 22!
Oh yes- another name that rings a bell- Jannie Stander. He eventually joined Vale for his A's- not a bad lad and a fine artist. As it was with racial tension etc then- he used to claim fully againest blacks (being a clutch plate as well) & then ended up dating a black girl 2 yrs his junior- funny that!!smileys/smiley5.gif

jannie was a goodoke - was a serious javelin thrower at one stage.. was in awe of him. jussis man he could gooi that blerrie thing.
Was a real bushcat though, i remember going walk-about with him in the bush near 'shed - just aimlessly wandering around for like 5 hours and then we went back to school... weird man!
hey the rugby pitches werent that bad - not nearly as bad as cricket or hockey at least - you could stand at one side of thefield and not see theplayers on the other side..haha - had to shout "fore" instead of "catch" when a ball came your way...
oh and the cow pats on the hockey pitch were memorable too... it was next to where the dairy herd would be taken from the munda's to the dairy every day and they always made a mess- we would get the sprogs to clean up the field before the 1sts game, wasnt always done very well though...
Spaniel
12-14-2005, 04:49 AM
Jannie dated a black girl - fcuking hell I never would have guessed.
Last time I saw him was in Kariba and he was working for Russ Broom as
a pro guide.
Hulgard certainly was a clutch plate, got expelled in the mass
explusion for a gear. Would not surprise me if Hukkies ended up with a
black girl, I have not seen that oake since about 94.

6" 7' built like a concrete bunker - had fists like "the thing"... but its funny how the biggest guys are sometimes really laid back and relaxed like - im bigger than you so why bother...attitude.
He is a great guy or was... not sure whats happened to him, i know he payed club rugby for banket at one stage but he was just to big and too slow to make much of an impact, although i remember at one mvurwi fest he had five guys on top of him and he was still moving forwards!! was an awesome sight! smileys/smiley32.gif

Dallas used to have a crush on zaal when i ws going out with Nick, she even took one of his dirty socks and put it on her hand and slept like that, we were all in fits of laughter! Man i had some good times with those boys!!

Apart from that, same as, still skydiving ocassionally, flying even more ocassionally, that's about it.
Sorry didn't get a chance to get old of you when I was in Aus Biff, wasn't near you anyway, I did the East and North coasts. Was going to give you a shout when I was there anyway, but didn't have your no.

Ursula Duff was one of my best mates, does anyone know where she is now. She used to hang out alot with Leona Mumford and dated Grant Amm for most of high school.

Don't you mention your best mate BRYAN HORNBY
Whats up Matt, I finally became a member, hope to chat lots here and catch up
Bryan
Just been reading through this thread, God, you guys bring back some memories of people I haven't thought of in years.
It is hard to believe that it has been nearly 12 years since I left! It is really great that all you guys from the same year are still in touch. My year, the one below yours Biffon, everyone seems to have scattered, or no one knows how to use a computer, or they just don't want to talk to me,.... still figuring out which!
I still see Peter Watson quite often, as well as Glenn Smith and Diane Demetriou. Hear from Craig Richter every once in a while, and Penny Campbell every blue moon. Was in touch with Carolyn Chadwick too, but haven't heard anything from her for a bit.
Keep the memories coming!
Cheers
Matt

Trying to find a cheap house to buy but i fear we missed the boat on that one!
they are damn expensive in Perth now....
As for the name problem with members
Um you might want to do a member search (http://www.thechiefbaboon.com/Forums/memberlist.php) - a lot of our members dont use their normal names to protect their privacy , so if you are wondering if someones a member try there first or the contacts database (http://www.thechiefbaboon.com/contacts/index.php) tab up at the top of the page.
any other questions just fire Shayne, Poison, Nyala or Myself a message

Hi Di, it is good talking to people you know and take a trip down memory lane! Love the picture - where did you get it.
Ok so about this reunion, was the last one meant to be in London?? I'm heading there in September, heading to Mykonos - P.A.R.T.Y, then Turkey, Germany - beer fest, Italy, Russia - vodka (seeing the pattern yet?) then back to the UK on 26/10/07. It's open house to anyone that wants to tag along....i recommend Mykonos or Germany!
Toni is still living in the UK, she has officially become a POME. I think she will make her way here sometime next year. Will pass on all hello's.

long story - bank shut took all our money (we had a hardwarw and workshop) was left with a new born baby, no money and creditors breathing down our necks for thier money the banks had. Eventually paid all our creditors off, but we had to close the business. Ryan (my son) got tonsalitis and there was no medication for him. He had only just turned one. So we decided to pack up and come here. Still all is not lost we have shares in the ''banks'' in Zim!!!

Not bad danda, except its bloody slow.
Here are some pointers
1)You need to optimise your images. (make em quicker loading)
2)Your Google search at the bottom of the page needs to either have a yellow background or give all your tables (and the google search) a white background with black bourders so your images dont stick out ugly.
3) you went ape-shit with your keywords - not a good idea - google and other search bots will soon ban you for keyword duplication
4) your tracker is causing javascript errors (easy to fix) which is probably what is slowing the page down
5) there are quite a few loose tags in the HTML but that will get better over time once you understand it more.
Otherwise, I am impressed, the design is nice and soft on the eyes and simple, I will look it over some more and see what else I can find
