Our nostalgic moment of the month is now displayed on our front page. Anyone have any stories from there?

I am sure I am not the only one to have hit a rough patch on the way downand leaving some of your anatomy behind. Just thinking about it makes me want to reach for the ingrams camphour cream and a very soft pillow to sit on
I recon there is more butt on that rock then on the biggest nude beach in europe.

Yup - I did - the inner tube I was sat on went one way and I went the other...
The other problem was hitting the water at the bottom too hard, face plant into the water and getting launched forward at speed... and only when you started to get out you realised you swimming kit was down by your knees.. *never be the person at the bottom of any inner tube, when there was more than one of you, as it was you who ploughed face first into the drink...*
Remember a mate of mine - a far larger oke - coming down the foofey slide and attempting to stay on as long as possible before the hitting the water. He did this by pulling himself up as high as possible on the handles... and then managed to burn the top of his head which was rubbing against the wire. He had burnt a central parting down the middle of his head that didn't grow back for ages.
The other thing was when the rope to pull back the sliding mechinism would get wrapped around the wire and, usually half way down, it would tangle and the poor oke would find the handle had stopped and they were still heading forwards...fast..

Oh my Mermaids Pool - now that brings back some memories... I remember one of my friends dad tried to buy it after it all closed down and became redundant etc but we could never fidn who actually owned it...
I used to love it there... Who ever walked about in the bush near by - we did once and found what would ahve been the ruins of the hotel rooms that were there - remember finding sunken baths - was interesting at the age of 10!!!!

This is a great moment of nostalgia, I remember coming here with the folks when I was about 8, braais in the sun & shitting load on the slide on a tractor inner tube. You'd never get the same thrills here in Mud Island - the Poms are all so goddamn worried about "health & safety", water purity and all that crap - so this is a memory to treasure & one that my children will probably never get to experience!
