There has been a lot of interest in the Tri Nations & World cup in Particular from the guys here at TCB however i have noticed a lack of conversation about the great situation the Zim Sevens team is finding themselves at the moment.

http://www.zimsevensrugby.com is their official website.

Of note is their recent participation in the Kenya Tuskers Competition where they Lost in the final to the Emerging Boks 27-19

This result has now put Zim into the 2nd position in the IRB sevens rankings for Africa behind SA and ABOVE Kenya & Namibia!!!

It is great news for a team that has struggled with sponsorship and Official backing over the years... Im sure they would be ranked much higher in the world if they were able to play all the big international competitions such as Hong Kong, Adelaide & Wellington Seven Tourni's!!

Lets get behind them even if its just some words of encouragement im sure theyd appreciate it!! :smiley32: :smiley32: :smiley32: :smiley32:

Biffon, l think you are 100 % correct in what you say.
This week end watched a match between St Johns and Prince Edward. There is is really a whole heap of potential in all aspects of the game. The kicking and scrumming was outstanding. Its a pity that when these guys leave school they generally move off overseas for work reasons.

It makes you believe that Zim must have some really good rugby coaches at school boy level. Its just a shame that they train players evry year only to see them move on.

And well done to the Sevens rugby team.

Doesnt mean much, PE are crap this year...:smiley36:

but back to the topic, the coaching staff for the sevens side can take a lot of credit for the performances of the side. Bruce Hobson(the manager) was my coach for most of my high school career and is a manager of personal, motivater etc...and Liam is also are great coach, he came down to one of our practices one day to put us thru our paces, one of the best coaching sessions we ever had

these two have worked hard at getting a decent squad together on a regular basis, organising training camps etc...and the results are starting to show for it
