since leaving Zimbabwe..
It occurred to me the other day that I haven't seen burglar bars since leaving Zimbabwe.
And what about those half-doors or whatever they're called. You know the ones where you can open the top half and leave the bottom part closed. Can't remember ever seeing them elsewhere.

Ah, but have you seen them attached to a house elsewhere? So far I haven't come across any in other countries that I have visited.
As regards their other use, I cannot possibly comment on what Richard does or doesn't see when visiting his chick... :whistling:

I have seen stable doors and burglar bars in the UK. (It's the areas I used to live in - tsk tsk tsk). I for one am glad about no burglar bars, I have a 'thing' about fire and often wondered how I would escape a fire in those houses.

lol burglar bars... quite a profitable business in zim... they wanted to put them in at arundel to stop them sneaking out...
we are so security consious here we leave the key in the front door... postie drops off the big parcels... etc... u can leave ur car unlocked and 90% of the time it will still be there, certainly don't lock it at night...
i don't think they use barn doors here because of the issue with doors expanding etc and letting the cold in... however our local pub has saloon doors for the loo... very interesting place... the kind u walk in and everyone slams their pint down to look at u...

broken glass cemented to the top of your durawall is another Zim trait not seen here - or barbed wire, except in the prisons over here...

Where do you live? My boyfriend has the habit of leaving the car unlocked - not by design - and gets in a huff because no one has stolen it. Would not like your local pub, there's a limit.
burglar bars in the uk... nope dont think i've seen those! As for the 'barn door' or 'stable door', i have to admit i have seen one in the Uk... actually... we have one... our kitchen back door! :smiley17:
