Paul Hoffman comes to mind (ex Kadoma)- i think he's a hooker - played Sharks in the currie Cup and i think has recently retired after playing for Pumas??

isnt George Gregan of Zambian Descent? and no offense to Victor surely we have a better 15 to put in there????

ahhh don't think you'd get away with Gregan would you??? he's a zambezi boy... unless you can link him or his heritage back to Nyasaland...

face it there are loads of people that have Rhodie heritage that could come back and play but who would want to?

Thanks for the feedback dude- never heard of Paul tho' (no disrespect intended!) & apart from Victor, there were a few guys I considered, like Bedford Chimbima (OH & Zim) Marius Steenkamp (Beatrice & Zim U21) Warren Wentzel (OMs & Zim) & (I think his name was) Kevin something or other (captained the Zim team after Andy Ferreira & played club rugby for OH- I'm SO embarrassed by my potsa!)

Actually mate, we CAN claim Gregan- his middle name, Musarurwa is shona for 'the chosen one' (quite appropriate actually when you look at his life!) but in terms of the facts: his grandparents still live in Juliasdale (Nyamazi district to be exact! I KNOW cos they're our neighbours :smiley36: ) and his mother is/ was a Zimbabwean- left Rhodesia & went to Zambia to work as a nurse on the mines after Zambia gained independance, where she met his Dad, an Aussie mining engineer... the rest as they say is history.

I coached Bruce for two yrs in both Mash A & Zim schools... he was good, but I wouldnt put him in the same class as Victor or Heath Streak (you should have seen HIM play rugby!) As far as Saints fullbacks go, you're probably close, but there were some pretty good ones in the late '80s (before your time at high school & just at the start of mine!)

I have heard via a long lost relative (thanks facebook!) that Paul Hoffman is still contracted to the Sharks so on that info id definitely consider him for hooker!

last article on the sharks website with him in it is in 2004 though
http://www.sharksrugby.co.za/default.asp?id=126737&des=article
reserve hooker for the sharks currie cup team.
