ZIMFEST 2007 – NEW HAPPENINGS!!!
To celebrate 7 years of Zimfest – we've added some fresh new
ideas to the programme
New Acts Added to the Bill - Comrade Fatso, Zuwa , Rudo Music, Soul Train DJs [including Peter Jones 'PJ your DJ', DJ Lloyd Musara, Kelvin Sifelani]
Dance and Cultural tent – Featuring Comrade Fatso all the way from the Book Café in Harare doing a poetry Jam. You also get to try your hand on some mbira and marimba (traditional Zimbabwean instruments). Plus there'll be story telling, theatre and many more things – when the sun sets the space will becomes a serious dance space.
Western Union Zimfest Football Tournament – We have teamed up with Western Union and there is £2000 in prize money up for grabs for the winning team and runners up. You can register on the day to join a team or if you have your own team of 11 get in touch with us zimfest@wezimbabwe.org (http://us.f527.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=zimfest@wezimbabwe.org) [Group Discounts available for teams].
Chill Out Tent – We began worrying about all the dancing that will happen during the day – so we got on the blower to Jenny and the girls and they have agreed to put up a Chill Out Tent – in between dancing you can stop for 15 minutes and get all sorts of massages and straw bales to sit on and just chill out.
Table Football [Slug] – Bar Kick in Shoreditch have kindly agreed to lend us a couple of their tables so that we can have a couple of games at Zimfest. We will have a mini-tournament – so come and show us your skills.
Zimfest After Party - After an awesome day out at the Zimfest, there's always the hassle of knowing where to go next, and how to get there and round up the crew...Well this year, Southern Style Events are taking care of the hassle for the ZimFest Guests. They have organised coaches to collect 300 guests from the ZimFest between 8 and 9:30pm and transport them onto The Trafalgar Arms in Tooting where they'll have Live Bands (Re-coup www.myspace.com/recoup (http://www.myspace.com/recoup)), DJ's, food and flowing drinks till 2am the next morning. Tickets are £10 for the afterparty and this includes your transport to the venue as well as entrance. For more information and tickets, contact Mike Parry on 07894857616 or visit www.southernstyleevents.com/ (http://www.southernstyleevents.com/) [Please Note: while endorsed by WEZIMBABWE this is not a WEZIMBABWE event]
TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE BUT SELLING FAST – BOOK NOW www.wezimbabwe.org (http://www.wezimbabwe.org/) or your nearest outlet www.wezimbabwe.org (http://www.wezimbabwe.org/) for details
See you there!!!

Thanks for the ticket info: For any other occassion I would not mind doing this, but as this event is to raise money for charity and organised by Zimbo's - I just couldn't, doesn't seem right.... but sneaking some booze in does - ok ok, mixed up morals here - lol.

Ok, the plan is: Nightape and I are planning on sneaking our own booze into Zimfest: but, do they search backpacks at the gate?
I will be printing up some flyers with TCB info and addie on. Whoever is going to Zimfest can link up with me and take a handfull of flyers to hand around. So give me a shout and let me know if you can help spread the word. Think of it this way: you see a lekker man/woman - don't know how to approach - have flyer in hand - go over and hang them a flyer and chat about the site. Amen, it's a sure fired way to meet and chat with yummies.
Harkey - can I drop some flyers off at your stall for your punters?
is crossing fingers and toes that this warm weather holds until the weekend and we get a sunny fest day.

Good luck with phoning them, I could never get an answer which is why I suggested an email. It says on their info page that anyone ordering tickets after Tuesday will not receive them in the post and must collect at the gate.
Who's fevertree?
barto11
08-29-2007, 11:28 PM
I got through to them on tuesday, i was very impressed
Fevertree...possibly the best south african rock band still based in SA, and are touring UK next month...its gonna be great to go to one of their gigs
Chick

WHAT - you must have the golden touch on the phone keypad, cause I have been trying for days to get them. So where are the Fevertree gigs gonna be?
Can you answer the previous question re: TCB flyers

Barto: use this site to plan your journey.
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
is thinking she had better do the same. Just remember Barto, if you decide to go to the after party you need to check when the last tube leaves to get you to the train station you leave London from. Tubes close early and some lines are closed at the weekends for repair.

If you need to use the tube to get to Zimfest - check this page first - major repairs on a few lines.
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/livetravelnews/realtime/tube/tube-all-future.html
Also - don't forget the tubes stop running around 11ist if you go to the after party.

It depends on what line and which station you are at. Some lines are under repair over the weekend, so close early. Always best to check first.

Through the haze of beery eyes I spotted the coaches awaiting to transport folks to the after party, but luckily some small part of my brain was still working and telling me not to get on the coach. There is nothing worse than having to get across London from south to north on the night bus.
