Yeah I was there about a month ago. Did not hear anything about bass. Bream off antelope though are huge 5kg not uncommon apparently. We did not have to much petrol so fished charara for 4 days (not hard core by any stretch, maybe 4/5 hours a day) and probably got about 30 tiger, biggest 4.5kg, average fish about 2.5. All things probably one of the better fishing trips.

My old man just got back from kariba caught plenty of bream around the 5kg mark at antelope np mention of bass though, i would think that being a predatory fish as well the tiger would take out the competition.

Yeah Im a bit suspect myself purely from a scientific point of view. bass need cold water to breed..ie below 20 deg and karibas water temp only drops to 19 deg in july for about 3 weeks , not long enough for them to spawn.

but then there are enough fish in the sinyati river system to be able to flush a few bass down into kariba so theyll definitely be there but never in numbers... thats my thought.

but i have heard rumours of regular bycatches of bass on tiger spinners and also on worms for bream up near palm bay, bed island, spurwing

Its possible they could get flushed down, and i hope they catch on and start spawning it will make for great fishing.
