Okay so you're going fishing ??

Where you ask. Locks Well Beach near Elliston is a famed Salmon beach.
Not a place for the foolhardy. A place of contrasts, the area is so arid, yet the sea is rich with fish.

Okay - So what to catch

For the less adventurous there's the local jetty to keep you busy pulling the usual tommies, garfish, etc etc

But for the fisherman willing to make a bit of an effort ...

We have Locks Well.

A place where the salmon swarm through the waves in the right conditions.
There are 280 steps down to the beach

The rewards are many for the well prepared..

Moral of the story ??

Dont travel all that distance with a 50 dollar Jarvis Walker rod from KMart cause it will break after one drop in the sand and you'll be buggered

I live in Woopwoop and come across dead roos or koalas everytime we drive more than 10km from home....it's so sad. The fishing is great, though.

Hahahahaha...thats so true. And after Africa we tend to pronounce the 'a' as 'u' - as in Harare becomes Hurure, try pronouncing Tallangatta, Yakandandah, Tangambalanga or Wangaratta!! But then just down the road we have Beechworth, Bright, Rutherglen and Glenrowan (Outlaw Ned Kelly's stamping grounds). We have a little town just down the road called Howlong - what were they thinking??????? It took us a while to lose the African pronounciations and say the Aboriginal names in Australian.
And another thing is that the Outback is relative to where you live so to the Melbournians, we live in the outback but to us the outback is about 50 km north west. Crazy!!!
