My 18 year old son desperately wants to go on a 2-year Apprentice Bench Joiner course (he has passed the CITB assessment course at City of Bristol College). However, despite their website inferring that they would employ him, he now needs to find his own employer.
Does anybody in the BRISTOL area have any contact with a Construction/Carpentry company who could take him on ?
I will personally vouch for him (ex SJC student and left Borrowdale Primary as Top Boy !).
Any assistance appreciated :smiley20:
if i hear of anything i'll let you know :)

Thanks for that Cez !!! An employer would be more useful LOL
dont know if this will help, but it worked for both my next door neighbors kids.
we got out yellow pages and thompsons and yell and just mail shot the lot, with a follow up letter,
it worked for both of them.

kbb, thanks for that. Actually started much the same thing last week. Posted 12 letters so will be interesting if we get a reply. Also found an excellent Construction jobs website last night and applied to a dozen companies online even though the jobs weren't for apprentices - u never know! Thanks again & fingers crossed !

It is hard to find work, even here in Outback Oz. The in-thing here is to keep staff on ongoing casual status so that they can be 'disposed of' when the work slows down. After 5 years of trying to stay employed I eventually looked for an industry that was desperate for staff - nursing - and now I'm fully employed and get random offers for work at least twice a month. I get to choose how many hours I want to work and even get to choose my shifts...it's not because I'm a great nurse...I'm not blowing my trumpet so to speak, but if you can train up in a low staffed industry you are guarenteed employment. The Health industry is always a good choice here in Oz because it's been the same for 60 years or so and probably not going to change any time soon. Just my two cents worth but hopefully it helps somewhere.
