Hey,

Do any of you remember when in Avondale instead of the TM there was a nightclub? I was like 14/15 years old when it existed, so 12 or more years ago.

But I remember going to a movie with friends and coming out at 11pm and waiting to be picked up I passed a car I recognized parked outside the nightclub. It was one of my Senior hockey teammates car.

This is where the story gets funny and better earn me some reputation point for remembering the night club & for telling such a funny story.

I saw her inside the car rummaging for something (or so I thought) and thought I'd say hi. Well I walked closer to the car and she wasn't rummaging for anything she was getting lucky. I was scard for life, seeing her butt in the air like that. Yikes!!! I could never look her in the eye again on the field.

Borrowdale village brings back some funny memories also. I remember being at the Keg on Saturday for lunch or somethign with girl friends of mine. We are eating chips and whatever and this drunk guy comes up to the wondow from the outside of the keg and takes his pants off and squishes his tiny slong on the keg window. I have never laughed so hard in my life, I almost chocked on a chip.

And one night at the keg before going to excape I remember finishing our drinks and then walking outside to make our way to the nightclub and there was a bay crawling in the middle of the road. Some stupid bitch in the keg forgot she had a kid.

How the hell did we even make it past and survive childhood?

Zimbos - there is no one else like us.

My first nightclub was Archies. Pretty fun place. Weird to think used to go into the city to a nightclub! Thinking back it was a dingy dive, and those poor fish at the bar! Fluoro lights for all their live. :smiley36: Man

ARKIES - well now that brings back some memories..... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm miss spent youth !!!!! Who remembers Turtles - never went there at night but always used to bunk off school and go there during the day and drink with friends - especially during O'levels!!! he he he - wrote my history O'level smased on VODKA SOAPIES!!!!! Might be the reason I failed it - he he he he

Kirsty
04-20-2006, 08:09 PM
My goodness, I have no recollection of "The Tube".

I do remember Turtles - but I swear my mates told me that it was a gay bar, so that kind of scared me as I had already been hit on by chicks on the hockey field, didn't need anymore of that thanks.

But I do have fond memories of "Archies". Ladies night on Thursdays till 10.30pm I think. I remember have dudes come and undress to their undies.
I remember once Rick - from Eaglesvale I think - was the stripper one night. And my mates and I hid from embarassment 1) that we knew the dude, 2) he was all greased up & had a really hairy butt & 3) he was dating a chick that dove with me -and she had no clue he was doing this as a side deal.
Also when you entered Archies on ladies night you had to write your name on this piece of paper and then they'd pull you name out the hat and you had to go parttake in a drinking game or do something gross with the stripper. I remember making up names so when the announcer said them it would cause gasps or huge amounts of laughter. Or all of us mates would get together and pick 1 mate and we'd all write the 1 mates name down, and she'd be wondering how she got picked for all 4 drinking games. So funny.
The shit that must have gone down in that place in the separate area on those couches ... yuk! Gives me the heebee geebies.

Kirsty
04-20-2006, 08:17 PM
I also have fond memories of the stadium. I played many a hockey match on those fields. I always used to love watchign the pitch for when they turned on those sprinklers and people would get nailed with them. Not just sprayed but the enire force of the sprinkler would nail them in the ear of hip and almost send them flying. Mean to laugh at but soooooo funny.

All Africa games was also in the bigger stadium. That was fun being in the opening ceremony for that. I also remember taking part in some athletic event there I had to do the long jump. And the boys schools had their athletic stuff there a few years in a row if I recall. Remember watch it one year and thinking "how boring" but it wasn't at all.

Kirsty
04-20-2006, 08:19 PM
I also learnt to drive in the stadium parking lot. My hill starts are killer - I rock at hill starts going forward or in reverse - I'm untouchable. Taught my brother Staurt Carrihill how to drive in there as well.

Come on, ouens! How can you ever forget the place where ALL nightclubbers were weaned - Hellenics on a Friday night with Spugs disco & the Mega discos at Eyeties (Italian Club to the uniniated) !!!!! Don't forget Your Place aka Marilyns & the last great den of iniquity in the town centre - Sandro's!!! Great places to get trashed & chunder in the carpark. Aaah, the days of my youth . . . . . . .

geezus! Hellenics & Italian club... dude those were HOLE's when i was doing the chunder rounds, and reserved to weekends when we were looking for more variety in our lives ie: knife fights with goffel gangs etc!!! :D :D

or maybe youre just dodgy!

haha!!! only club i was ever denied access... really pissed me off

i was underaged, but a chick same age as me in my group was let in .... at the time i didnt realise why and was devastated, but looking back on it now see it was purely in the best interests of the club.
ie:
underaged guys = no money to spend = boot up the rectum!
underaged girls = being bought drinks from sleazebag 40yr old men = $$$

Hey Biff! So whatta ya tryin' to say china? Dodgy? It sounds like you were the dodgy one getting involved in knife fights with goffel oeuns! lol! Hellenics & Eyeties must've dried up by the time you were old enough to go out? Those places were pumping back in '86,'87 & '88 then Rosalinds & The Hangar were the happening places until an oke took a dive off the first floor at Hangar. It just shows how long ago that was when guys used to tuck their shirts in & white trousers were the rage! Ah, the times they are a changin'.

Archies is still going but not really the kind of place that you would want o be seen in

Sarahs, again you dont want to be there, not sure what its called

Tube same story as above, basically to cut along story short you just dont go into town any more, I have no idea about turtles i think that closed ages ago, like I said havent been into town in ages, but will make an effort to have a look.

Rosalinds, is now edgars

lavanhu is no longer

Aguilars then branagans, I have no idea think its gone,

Red Fox, dont go there unless you like it rough and with out vasaline

Origins, is currently being fitted out to become a woolworths I think, no one is quite sure yet.

Xcape, aka blue zoo, aka, zin/glow whatever, is still going although I ind of feel like an old pervert when Im there.

Da Vinci's is going but very very young audience, as young as 12, geez they starting young, I remember when I was 12 running around the garden with a toy gun and trying to kill imaginary VC,

Sports Cafe, is now a clothes shop

News Cafe, now called trax, is run by track armour, he used to be the manager of sandros, for you ex sandros goers he was the little short bald guy.

Billy fudpacker, is still going but yor best bet is a thursday night, they have two guys singing, they are crap but makes for a good atmosphere, not many people go, so its usually a chilled one or two.

Keg in borrowdale, pretty good for those afternoon drinks when you bunking off work with some mates or collegues, but generally crap in the evenings, however that may change with the varsity students comming back for xmas holidays, other wise known as the "Salmon run" he he

Otherwise not much left in town, most folks start off at OGs for the weekend warm up( Although there has been a rather nasty incident where a young fellow was beaten and stabbed to death, I will explain in another thread if anyone want to know the details) anyway let me carry on, they have a disco some friday nights as well, then folks move on to borrowdale or in my case home.

Saterdays are very dead around town, people usually go to the lake or in my case skydiving, and get boozed there, or move on to a braai or house party if you crack the nod.

Sundays.......hmmm..... sundays, usually just a spur of the moment piss up anywhere, sometime a continuation of the previous evening.

If I can remember any more I will let you know, or if you wanna find out about any of your previous haunt let me know I will investigate for you.

A little bit of an update, still the details are a bit clouded.

the guy was not stabbed but died because of a blood clot in his brain. there were a few guys arrested for it, but later on released. no one has been charged etc for this incident.

exactly why this happened is a mystery, no one really knows still loads of stories going around town.
